Sun Tzu

The Art of War is a Chinese military treatise written during the 6th century BC by Sun Tzu. Composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare, it has long been praised as the definitive work on military strategies and tactics of its time.

Great insights here from the 5th century BC on morality, character, and the relationship between armies at war and allied. And plenty of familiar verses, set in context: "if you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles without jeopardy." Recommended, although the Kindle edition, with interpretive notes and commentary, was impossible to follow on Kindle—the commentary at the end, disassociated with the text.
