Casey has recently finished rehab for a painkiller addiction. Shortly after returning home, she falls back into her old and not necessarily good crowd. She heads to a club to see her ex-boyfriend's band play and then a group of her and her friends head to a rave in a closed subway tunnel. But something sinister lives down there and that something is killing her groups of friends one by one. Will any of them make it out alive?

This was well written and kept me engaged for the entire book, which I read in one sitting. It had lots of action and suspense. The characters were very realistically done. I think high school students, both boys and girls, would like this one. I received a copy of this book from the Amazon Vine program in exchange for a honest review.

Danielle Vega writes the most spooky and creepy things. I still get nightmares thinking about her Merciless books. Honestly, I was so shook up while reading this book. It just gave me all sorts of feelings in the terror and dread department. It also didn't help I read this is the semi darkness. 

There was a lot of realness to this book, which is something I can appreciate. By realness, I mean real world things that happen to teenagers. The MC, Casey, just came out of rehab for drug abuse. She has some less than good friends and is dealing with the loss of a relationship on top of it. Even though this book is horror, there are a lot of things that teens can relate too. 

The plot was good, though a little far fetched. There was one part towards the end (that I won't reveal due to spoilers) that I was just super confused about. I wasn't entirely sure what really happened. I suppose that is the horror genre for you. I felt totally creeped out the entire time and felt so much dread and anxiety while reading this book. I just wanted everybody to be okay. 

Overall, this was still a pretty good book. I finished it in only a few hours. It's a quick and easy read. I also think it's a good introduction to the horror genre if that is something you want to get in to.

I felt like I was promised more rats. (Context: rats were the only thing I remembered from the description so I spent half the book waiting for them to show up. Kinda built them up in my head to look like the rats in Penguins of Madagascar.) Also you can tell it was Danielle's beginnings, because there is surprisingly little gore fascination (not that there isn't any). Best of all her books I read, honestly.

Took me forever to read bc of work and i can’t take my kindle to work, but this was FUN. I’ve been in a reading slump for majority of the year and i thought maybe this would be a quick read. As cliche as this was, it was so adventurous to read. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and who would be next or if they would even get out alive! Would recommend if you want to read a quick book or if you’re in a reading slump.

This was not a bad read, per se. I think I went into Survive the Night with too many expectations. I was hoping for something scary and gripping, goosebump-inducing, and a book that made me nervous to read in the dark. Instead, I was provided with something that has a lot of gross-out scenes and a vague indication that things were otherworldly.

It would have been way more satisfying if it was scary, as I'm a horror buff, but for what it was, STN wasn't bad! I did enjoy the story line and the characters and will heavily suggest that if you're easily triggered by drugs, death, or anything involving rehab that you stay very far away.

STN kept me invested enough that I wanted to see it through the end and I'll be honest and say that I was waiting for some kind of unexpected twist at the end and it was a tiny bit of a let down. Still, I would read it again!
