This is another one of those books where each word is designed to zing and delight and drip with stereotypical southern twang. It's a little too precious and fanny flaggy for me. But it sure does make you want a dilly bar.

This book was a bit of a disappointment. It The book was sweet but it felt like a bunch of vignettes strung together instead of a continuous story. I expected a character-driven story full of charming and quirky small-town personalities and a story that would create a strong connection between the main characters and the reader.

Unfortunately, I didn't connect with many of the characters. I think this may be because most of the information about the characters came from the main character relating what the others did and said (the old "he said she said" thing). The other characters just didn't have a lot of voice and I frequently wished that the author would have let Martha Ann, Hank, and the rest speak for themselves. The only character I really thought came alive was Gloria Jean - in fact, I think her story would have been more interesting than Catherine Grace's and might make for a good sequel.

Looking for Salvation is a nice, light read and an enjoyable way to pass the time but it is very forgettable.
