It Started One Christmas is a contemporary romance novella written by Susan Mallery. This is the continuation of the Malcom, Callie and Keira series.

Characters

Keira is kind, outspoken, and upbeat. She has been through so much at such a young age - From a druggie mother to several years in the foster care system.

Dalton is book-smart, protective, and a serial dater. His relationships don't last.

Romance

Dalton is a TA for one of Keira's classes and seeing that he looked quite ill with nowhere to go for the holidays, Keira invites him to stay at her place for Christmas. This was the beginning to a long lasting friendship. 

Final Thoughts

This book was way too short! I wanted more... Throughout the novella, I honestly felt like we only saw glimpses of Dalton and Keira's interaction with one another throughout several years, specifically around Christmas time. It is not love at first sight but we see the progression from friends to something more.

While this book is part of a series, it could be read as a standalone. I recommend this novella who were fans of the first book in the series but also to anyone wanting to read a short romance novel set during the Christmas holidays.
