Culverwell Mesolithic Habitation Site, Isle of Portland, Dorset Excavation Report and Research Studies
An excavation report on this Mesolithic site discovered in 1967. Susann Palmer and a number of other contributors describe the archaeological evidence and stratigraphy, the geophysical survey and artefacts recovered. Environmental and dating evidence are evaluated and the site is set in a wider context by comparison with contemporary sites nearby. Interpretations are made of population values, the economic and domestic activities at the site, and evidence for the spiritual or religious life of its inhabitants.
