Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

There is so so much to say about this book because of how long it is to be honest but I'll try not to let this review get too long.

I think one of the things I liked the most about this book is Clarke's humour. She's very witty and it shows through both dialogue and prose sections and makes the book super enjoyable to read. The world building in this book is also some of the best I've ever read. 

The use of footnotes took some getting used to because I don't think I've ever read a fiction book that uses them, but I thought it was a really effective way to add even more substance to the book. And they all were really well thought out, with many footnotes being referenced again at later points in the book. 

I also loved the characters and how they all grew and changed throughout the book, and I thought the ending was wonderful. I think I would've liked to see more of Arabella and Lady Pole's interactions, but I understand why there weren't more shown to us on page - the book is already 1000 pages long! The evolution of Strange and Norrell's relationship throughout the books was one of my favourite parts, and their ending especially was very fitting to me. 

I'd definitely want to read more of Clarke's work!!
