Love Gabriel and Ryder and lean and Dante ahha

So I’m still confused what this series is supposed to truly add to the world and why I have to read it in between ZA. I know the main motive for the FMC but unlike ZA I knew the bigger plot line. I also didn’t like this one as much as book 1. This definitely just felt like a filler book but at the same time I don’t really know what it did. So we’ll see how book 3 goes.

Overall the book was good, it felt like a filler book where nothing crazy happened but it was still necessary for the story
I don’t know who I prefer out of all the kings but I think this book did a great job of making me fall more for Dante. The spice was so good I really didn’t expect it but it fits in well!
Still not a huge fan of certain brands/ names being changed slightly to fit the fae world- that makes me cringe internally when I read it
I’m becoming more invested into who killed Gareth and I’m hoping in the next book there will be a few more answers about this but also on who Gabriel is and his past, I feel this book didn’t focus much on Gabriel or Ryder in comparison to Leon and Dante

aaaaa estoy amando estooo !!!

It was pretty good not as good as the first one honestly but I was entertained.. I need more Gabriel though please.. Ryder and Dante are iconic I love them and Elise being sunshine (Leon) protector was so cute!

everything else in this series must be boring if the only thing i’m invested in is who killed gareth (and leon 🫶🏻🫶🏻 my sunshine)

Okay I’m sooooooo hooked. The ending crept up on me and I was left mouth agape. So so good but could be a little better! Maybe book 3 will be a perfect score 😅

I’m obsessed with this series so far! Ryder is my favorite.

I enjoyed this more than the first book but the plot is still meh and it’s focusing on all the wrong characters. I still couldn’t care less about Gareth and now also this black card cult who apparently killed a boy in the woods. It’s a boring plot imo The writing also seems very disjointed sometimes. I don’t know how the two authors collaborate but some chapters seemed utterly disconnected from the flow of the book. I didn’t feel this with the first book or with any of the Zodiac Academy books so I don’t know what went wrong here. Elise is still convinced a ‘king’ killed her brother, Elise is still also wanting to have sex with all of them… make it make sense. In Zodiac Academy I LOVE the use of nicknames like when Darius calls Tory ‘Roxy’ or when Orion calls Darcy ‘Blue’. But in this when Dante says ‘Carina’ or ‘bella’ or when Leon says ‘little monster’ there’s nothing personal about it and it just doesn’t hit the mark, almost does the opposite and is a little cringe. Having said that and this might be hypocritical but Ryder casually calling her baby is giving me life, especially because of when he chooses to say it. The boys Leon. Only reason I enjoy him is the material he gives Ryder for Lion King references. Otherwise he’s still just a guy that gets things done for him and is a bit pathetic to be honest. Dante. Speaking Italian (sorry faetalian 🙄) is still his biggest personality trait. He doesn’t want to be in a gang and yet he continues to perpetuate that lifestyle. I just don’t care. Him and Leon seem to have a threesome kink which also is bleh for me. Honestly Elise, Leon and Dante take up way too much of this book for being the least interesting characters. Gabriel gets almost no attention in this book and I’m sick of it. I want more. I need to know more about the sight, his past, his secret identities and why he thinks he’s in danger. If his story doesn’t progress in the next book I’m going to be mad. Ryder. We get to learn a bit about his past in this book and it is heartbreaking. Ryder is hands down still the most interesting character in this series. I’m wasting my time reading about Leon and Dante when all I want is STRAWBERRY ICECREAM!

A bit of a middle book syndrome with this one, but I am still beyond hyped to continue with the series!

Getting so bored and nothing is happening.. dnf @ 36% might resume some day but geez I also don’t like when all the books are in the same universe and there are so many crossovers which makes me not want to read zodiac academy. We’ll see

Highlights

I had the patience of a saint and the anger of a sinner.
Ryder

"You won't ever have to make a choice like that while I still draw breath."
Ryder to Elise (about money struggles)

I smiled while she wasn't looking. The second she turned to look at me again, my face was set it its usual steely mask.
Ryder about Elise

"Sto cadendo sotto il tuo incantesimo, Elise."
Dante to Elise (I am falling under your spell, Elise)

"... you consume my desires."
Gabriel to Elise

"I cieli si scontrano per te, carina," I purred. The heavens collide for you.
Dante to Elise

The way her body moved in time to the music was fucking poetry.
Dante about Elise

"Let me look after you, Elise."
Leon to Elise
