Macarons at Midnight is one of the worst books I've ever read.

To start, I dislike how involved Lise was to make sure she found her "mystery boy." Her and her crush (Raj) met at a taste testing for a new macaron shop opening in the town, but he didn't know who she was because she dressed as a frog princess with a mask (she left a party that she was dragged to). So, the whole premise of the book was not only finding him (which happened early in the book) but seeing if she'd really like him. That leads to another thing.

Lise lied to the boy by having him believe that her new friend, Viv, was the one he talked with at the taste testing. And that eventually led to drama because Viv started to like him. *facepalm* I'm sorry, this is almost like Girl Meets World but on a terrible scale.

There were other things that I disliked including kissing (come on! They're in 8th grade *shakes my head*); the author dragging out the story by adding additional drama (things could've been resolved a lot sooner); and there was an argument that made zero sense.

I typically don't like to "beat up" books in that sense, but to be honest, this was a waste of time. I only finished it because I was curious to see how Lise would tell Raj that she was the one he met at the macaron shop. However, this book was just pointless and thus, I honestly wouldn't recommend it.

This book was supercute. I️ found it kind of similar to a hallmark movie, but that’s why hallmarks is so popular... I️ mean who doesn’t love a cheesy romance movie? They’re pretty predictable, but just make you feel straight up happy! I️ recommend this book and need to order more Suzanne Nelson books
