Webber did fantastic job with these characters. They somehow manage to be more interesting, relatable, and a lot less cringey than Jacqueline and Lucas (although as a NA novel, there's still plenty of cringe and cheese). 

HUGE PLUS for the main character being Mexican. After reading Simone Elkeles' (disaster of Mexican representation) Perfect Chemistry novels, it was a huge relief to have a Mexican character that wasn't a complete stereotype and wasn't fetishized by their white love interest/the author themselves. My only complaint: Pearl's father literally didn't have to be involved with Mexican drug cartels. It's possible to have a Mexican character that isn't involved with or doesn't have family that's involved with drugs and gangs. For once it would be greeeaaaat to read that. Pearl's father dying due to his affiliation with the cartel did nothing for the story or for Pearl's character development. 

Personally, I loved the flashbacks. It allowed for a better understanding of the characters and made the present-time narration even more intense and frustrating and wonderful. And I'm a sucker tropes like this where the characters clearly like each other and show affection but are both too afraid to say anything even after they hook up?? 

Overall, it was entertaining with likable characters, and the title is completely appropriate. So far, Sweet seems to be the best out of the Contours of the Heart series.

Y'all, why in the world did I wait so long to read Sweet? I loved the first two books in Tammara Webber's Contours of the Heart series when I read them AGES ago before I started blogging. But for one reason or another, I never did read this one even though I pre-ordered it! I'm ashamed. I'm also very glad I decided to make it my first audiobook of the year because I enjoyed it so very much.

Pearl and Boyce's story was ... *swoon*. I'm a sucker for a friends first story and even though that sometimes means seeing one of the characters (*cough* usually the man *cough*) with other characters, I've learned to deal. The payoff is worth those limited other woman scenes. Thankfully there aren't any such scenes in Sweet, though there is talk of other women. But that's real life, so I can handle it. It's not like he was a cheating bastard or something. Ha! But I digress. Pearl and Boyce, even as friends, had a ton of chemistry and they were easy to root for. Their friendship gave them a solid foundation for what each of them was dealing with and what was to come.

Sweet had plenty of feels, but never really felt too angsty for me. I fell for both of the characters fully and I really enjoyed shipping them. They're both going through some growing pains in life and I liked how that had a way of bringing them together, but still gave them the strength to handle things on their own. Sweet was a great coming of age story with characters it was easy to love. And that epilogue? Swoons. For. Days.

So OF COURSE I had to go with the audiobook version of this one. I mean, seriously… Zachary Webber! <3 How incredible is he?! He's one of my very favorite narrators. And I love even more when he's narrating his mother's book. There's just something about that sweetness that gets me every time. This series has definitely been an enjoyable one for me. Though this wasn't my favorite in the series (That title goes to Easy hands down!) it was definitely a fun addition. Boyce was a super fun character, and I’m happy he got his own story. I really enjoyed Pearl as well… she was a great match for this unique guy! :) Boyce had a protective and loyal side that you can’t help to love. And Pearl’s determination and thrive to better her life was so admirable. Together they were a fantastic team!

This was a wonderful sweet and happy type of story. We don’t see enough of those in NA books these days. Boyce, a total sweet heart, and their romance that kind that will give you the warm and fuzzy feelings. Loved it!
