I'm a huge travelogue fan and this was quite an enjoyable read. I found it very interesting that Golden Gelman decided to immerse herself in different cultures instead of simply passing through, it gave much more insight to her experience. What I found a bit disturbing was Golden Gelman's apparent need to stay away from her family and her need to recreate another "community" wherever she was in the world. It sometimes felt like she was trying to avoid "real life". The author's ability to leave everything behind the way she did is a luxury most of us couldn't afford. Some of the Gelman's comments made it sound like anyone could just get up and go and travel the world but it's simply not true and I think her financial means and her apparent detachment from family ties made it easier for her to live the life she chose.

Anyaconda

This was a hopeful and at the same time melancholy book about the authors travels around the world.
I did connect with the author especially over the reasons and problems she moved on from one country to another. I've spent half my life travelling and working in over 10 countries and can relate immensely, but I was missing the special something to give this book a higher rating.
However I can recommend this to anyone with itchy feet 👣 
It'll make you wanna pack your bag and see the world (after Covid 19).
