Get a Life, Chloe Brown

A witty, hilarious romantic comedy about a woman who’s tired of being “boring” and recruits her mysterious, sexy neighbor to help her experience new things—perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory, and Helen Hoang!

Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion. The next items?

Enjoy a drunken night out.

Ride a motorcycle.

Go camping.

Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex.

Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage.

And… do something bad.

But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job.

Redford "Red" Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit.

But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior?

Cute! I love a “they help me do my dream/goal/list and we accidentally fall in love” trope

„Get a life, Chloe Brown“ was one of the cutest, fastest reads I had this year and somehow it filled my heart up, right to the brim. If you’re in the mood for romance that really focuses on the characters and not much filler plot surrounding them, this might just be the next read for you.

Following a female lead who has Fibromyalgia, this book already was something else, right from the start. At first, I admit, I wasn’t sure how well this all would be handled by other characters in the book, but as her love interest is such a gentle, attentive sweetheart, this really was a cute read from start to finish.

Conquering fears and struggling with behaviour the characters adopted from past, traumatic experiences is one of the main focuses of this story and they do it so well, that I rushed through the whole book in barely two days of reading.

One minor downside for me was the turning point of the story, but that is just a personal preference and it was something that could be explained with the characters’ backstories in mind, so it’s nothing I would deduct too much from my rating for.

This simply put is a cute romance, a quick read and something light, but with substance as well. I enjoy this series very much.

enjoyed the steamy romance but also really appreciated the transparency on what it means to live with chronic illness every day.

me forcing myself to read contemporary straight romances as a science experiment bc,, if theyre that popular they must be ok right? welp not for me.

this book was so very… ok. straight ppl are crazy yall rlly think about sex THAT MUCH???? IF ONE MORE ROMANCE NOVEL MENTIONS THE WOMANS NIPPLES HARDENING, TIGHTENING, PINCHING IM GONNA SCREAM. but again, addictive writing style i read it in a day.

First finished 5 star of 2024😭😭 SO GOOD AND FOR WHY?!?! Omg I’m gonna finish the whole trilogy idc🏃🏿‍♀️💨

I don’t care what you say, this book was the cutest and scrumptious little thing I have read in a while. The fact that they both worked on themselves for each other and changed for the better fOR EACH OTHER?????

The FMC and MMC had such good chemistry, and despite the misunderstandings along the way and the annoying thing that happened at the end, they’re too adorable.

Definitely reading the next book in the series.

If I could describe Get a Life, Chloe Brown in one word, it would be "cute". First, the representation of a plus-sized woman of color was great, AND the fact that Red made me fall in love with him is another plus.

Unfortunately, though, some parts of this book fell short for me. The predictable plotline was actually something Paula and I bet upon and were pretty right about. Some parts of the book also felt like it just didn't fit in with the characters. I kind of got the feeling I was reading two completely different books mashed into one. (Sorry, I'll stick with Jay Kristoff's steamy scenes)

Overall, yeah, the book was cute but would I ever read it again? Probably not.
