Tami Hoag had really evolved into a good mystery writer from her earlier days writing romance mysteries. This book is set in 1985 when Profiling by the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI was in it's infancy. It's hard now to remember that it wasn't so long ago that cell phones, desktop computers, computer data bases for crimes, victims, fingerprints, etc. were not commonplace and DNA analysis was a dream for the future. Very good read for the genre.
