im not even sure how to put into words al the feels i have right now.
first off, HOW THE HELL AM I JUST NOW DISCOVERING KENNEDY FOX?!?!?
i feel like somehow i missed the bus because im jus tnow stumbling into the party, but man oh man am i glad i came.
this story was the perfect mix of vacation love meets slow burn long haul.
we have a sexy witty cowboy and his loveable bestie who win a vacation get away together, they head into the trip with nothing but wild plans and not even a an ounce of long term goals.
enter in a resently burned babe who all the brains and fire that makes her the perfect nurse, when her hilarious bestie invites her for a two week get away she gives in and finally takes a much needed break.
two people from totally different worlds thrown together with a healthy dose of booze, sun and hot and steamy good times, what more could you want?
the two weeks fly by and in the end somethings just cant stay on the beach, no matter how much they say they will. i for one was over the moon when we got to go back to ranch and see what life was like with all the Bishops, they are proably one of my favorite bookish familys to date. espeically because even though its romance and supposed to be light and fun i LOVE when honest reactions make an appearance and momma Bishop was a fine example of keeping it real and i loved her more for it.
from start to finish i adored this book, it was witty, playful and grabbed me by the feels more than once.
i was furious with River, sad for Alex and all around clammering to see what came next, the ending...it was beyond words adorable and a perfect ending to this sweet and steamy story.

I feel like if someone who said they disliked the surprise pregnancy trope had only read this book I would understand. Saying this as an absolute stan of the trope.

This was a very good story. I’m always a little iffy about stories that have to do with accidental pregnancies but this one made it easy to love. The chemistry between Alex & River was steaming hot even though River was very stubborn. I just wanted them to be together in the end. Not as much drama as some of the other Kennedy Fox box but very enjoyable.

Kennedy Fox is one of those authors — or duos, I suppose — who has been on my TBR for ages. I keep seeing her cowboy series everywhere and, each time a new book is released I think "I really should read one of her books!" Well, I finally decided to do just that. I thought Taming Him was quick and sexy, an easy read.

If I gave half stars, Taming Him would definitely get a 3.5 star rating from me. But, I don't deal in half stars and I couldn't quite bump it up to 4 stars. It was an enjoyable read. I'm intrigued by the Bishop Brothers. But, I had a bit of a tough time really connecting to either of the main characters. In fact, I found some of the brothers far more intriguing than Alex. Of course, I'm not always a fan of bragging manwhore type characters, so it's quite possible he and I just got off on the wrong foot. He ended up being swoonier than I originally thought, but it took awhile for me to get there with him. River was easier for me to relate to, but I didn't ever truly connect with her.

Regardless, I liked River and Alex and their story. I'm a sucker for a southern accent and I enjoy a good expiration date story. I enjoyed the, ahem surprise, that happened midway through the book, even if I saw it coming a mile away. Taming Him had some sweet moments — and some downright hot moments — but I was missing the feels I get when I really connect with characters. It was a good read — and I plan to continue with the series — I just didn't love it the way so many of my fellow readers did. Of course, I just came off an amazing streak of five star reads — the last of which gave me a wicked book hangover — so this could definitely be a case of "it's not you, it's me."

I just knew I was going to love Alex. I have a weak spot when it comes to southern gentleman, and Alex (along with his brothers) was no exception. I’m so excited that the lovely Kennedy Fox writing duo decided to give the Bishop Brothers their own books.

I loved Alex from the beginning. Though he was a total player type, I knew he had a warm fuzzy side and I was super excited to see it come out. Though I’m not normally a bad boys fan, this “bad boy” was just too sweet to hate on. I adored River as well. Such a strong and independent person with a heart of gold. Her strength and desire to help ill children live a better life was so uplifting and admirable.

Some may say this was insta-love, but I didn’t feel that way at all. A total insta-infatuation, maybe. But that’s realistic to me and I loved their undeniable immediate attraction to each other. What happens in Key West stays in Key West, amirite?! ;)

Looking for a contemporary romance with a little southern drama? Then this is the book for you! Another great book by this incredible romance writing duo!

I’m a sucker for a good cowboy romance! I don’t read these as often as I want to, but when Kennedy Fox offers me a chance… I’m not going to say no. I ended up enjoying this first Bishop Brothers book – it’s light-hearted, uncomplicated (if a bit all over the place), and fun. There are cowboys and a no-strings-attached vacation fling… what could go wrong?

“Alex Bishop is your typical cowboy.” That would be accurate. He’s the youngest of the Bishop brothers and has lived, worked, and breathed his family’s farm for as long as he’s been alive. He’s also a playboy extraordinaire. So when he and his friend get the chance to go on an all-expenses paid vacation, he snaps up the chance. What he doesn’t expect is to meet a gorgeous pediatric nurse that, although they start off as no-strings-attached lovers, would steal his heart.

I’ll admit, when Alex was first introduced, I was not a fan. I’m not a fan of the manwhore hero but KF plays a little of the instalove factor when Alex and River meet, so I had no worries about Alex fooling around with random women. Alex grew on me even more when he showed River what he, his family, and his ranch were like. You could really feel that cowboy life and love coming through.

The main reason I can’t give this a higher rating is because of the surprise that’s not really a surprise that happens in the middle of the book. I felt it was a little contrived and honestly, handled a little too easily. I wanted a little more depth and emotion when it came to this part of the book, but the story kept feeling as fun and light-hearted as ever. That’s not to say that’s not a good thing, especially if that’s the kind of read you’re looking for. But for my tastes, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

Overall, Taming Him is a promising start to KF’s new cowboy series. I enjoyed it for the most part, and am looking forward to the rest of the Bishop brothers’ books. I’m so excited to see these boys get knocked on their asses by love!
