I firmly believe that Tamsyn Muir is one of the most talented and creative writers that are currently active. "Princess Floralinda" being the case in point.

The writing is, as always, incredibly well polished, combining both intelligence and humour. Muir finds, yet again, a fresh and creative approach to tropes that many people ask to be written or subverted or attempt to write themselves to boring and mediocre results. The novella never feels like it is responding to some kind of discourse but rather an exercise in which Muir delighted. And to be honest, so did I.

a short, funny little book, extremely different from the locked tomb and reminiscent of middle grade small fairytale retellings i enjoyed years ago.
