It had a very rough start but settled somewhat. It's a weird book and I had a hard time connecting to the characters. It's also not a linear story but multiple tales.

The writing is so sublime (i want to throw in more words to describe the unrivaled beauty of the writing that is this book) Best of all is how all the stories come full circle. Like a butterfly effect. Never missing a beat, Tanith Lee, connects all the dots no matter how inconsequential and spins a story for the ages.

I feel like the best description would be that it's stories of a lord demon from when the world was flat. Myths would be the best description of the type of stories you read, and it feels like a short story collection with an overarching theme.
