Tatsuki Fujimoto

In the not-too-distant past, the Ice Witch blankets the world in snow, starvation, and madness, leading the inhabitants to seek their salvation in fire. With that, an unusual destiny unfolds for two young orphans, Agni and Luna, blessed with the ability to regenerate. But will this ability prove to be more of a curse than a blessing?

Fire punch

You needn't have read Fujimoto's work as extensively to understand that there are certain things that haunt him. Recurring themes and motifs and imagery that are easily perceptible within his work. This makes reading his oeuvre in what is technically the reverse order even more exciting.

In it is first volume, 'Fire Punch' is definitely grittier and much gorier than what most audience would have seen from Fujimoto (I cannot stress this enough*). It is less sophisticated and subtle in addressing the abovementioned themes, too, but that is understandable - he was, at the time, a debut author.

Regardless, the story has an interesting and solid concept and I am curious to see it develop.
