Ten Rules for Faking It
Reviews

this book is a cute, quick, and easy read. the slow-burn romance between chris and everly is what really captivated me from the start (seeing as i love a good slow-burn relationship more than anything). the chemistry from the pairing is there but it sort of felt like something was missing between the two of them? though, i can't exactly pinpoint what it was. i did lose a little interest towards the end of the book and i think that's partly why i ended up giving this book 3/5 stars. partly due to a disconnect i felt to the characters a little more than halfway through the book. however, all in all, it's a great romcom story!

this slowburn was worth experiencing I love seeing 2 people think the other person doesn't have the same feelings that they have for them. it's like a full circle moment when they realize all they want is to spend their life with that person forever.

LITERAL HAS HALF STARS????? Best decision I’ve made. Anyway this book was ADORABLE and the characters were amazing. -.5 for being really predictable but it was still in such a good way that it was worth it.

I like my chick lit witty and fast paced. This is the opposite. And the main character needed lots of therapy for her mental health issues, not “finding love with her boss”. Problematic.

rtc!

3/5 stars ** I was provided an E-ARC ( advanced readers copy) of this book from NetGally and the publisher in exchange for my honest review** I really enjoyed this book. The character felt relatable and real. The main male character and the love interest were okay, I really wasn't his biggest fan, but I began to like him the further I got into the book. I will say the main plot could've been better. The whole dating and bachelorette could've been a lot more fun, it just fell flat for me. Overall a fun, quick, and easy read.

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book has well developed characters and relatable to anxiety. The romance was very-slow burn. It is a longer slow burn romance then usual romances so that is why this book was a three-star read. If the romance wasn’t as slow (it took 90% for them to finally kiss) I would of gave it a four-star read. I have also noticed many other reviews saying the same thing, that the romance was way to slow. Everything else was great. The character built up, the story line, the representation for anxiety, etc. Just way to slow burn for me.

*3.5 Everly Dean has never had a birthday go right, and thirty is no exception. She thinks nothing can be worse than finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman, but then she accidentally spills it all on air during her best friend's radio show that she produces. As if sharing her relationship woes with all of their listeners wasn't mortifying enough, soon the radio station is inundated with calls and emails asking Everly out. When her boss, the handsome yet distant, Chris, suggests they use the hype to draw more ratings, Everly is thrust into a Bachelorette-style contest. As someone with social anxiety, this is way out of Everly's comfort zone, but she makes a list and decides to fake it till she makes it to get through. As the weeks go on, and the competition brings Everly and Chris closer, she realizes maybe her perfect match has been under her nose all along. This was sweet and had its moments, but it was just a little too slow for me. Usually, I live for a slow-burn romance, but this got to the point where I was just like, "C'mon already." Pacing aside, I did enjoy the characters themselves. I found Everly to be very relatable, and as someone who also suffers from anxiety, I thought the representation of it was done really well. Chris is also very charming and I enjoyed how much he cared for Everly and making sure her well-being came first. The secondary characters such as Stacey and Noah were fun and added a lightness to this as well. All in all, while maybe not the most memorable book I've read, it's definitely a good fluffy read if you need something light or want something less steamy than other contemporaries.

Birthdays have never been good for Everly, but on her 30th, she hits an all time low when she surprises her boyfriend and finds him in bed with another woman. Then when she arrives at the radio station where she works as a producer, her best friend and Deejay, Stacey tries to sing Happy Birthday to her on air, only to have Ev blurt out what she found in her boyfriend's apartment that morning. Having all of the listeners hear of her plight gets worse when she is roped into a station promotion in which Ev will have several blind dates and pick a winner. This would be hard enough on its own, but Everly suffers from severe anxiety disorder. Ten Rules for Faking It shares many similarities with the recent book, The Ex Talk, but there are some differences that make Ten Rules an even better read. Inclusion of Everly's anxiety disorder develops realism in the way it is handled throughout the story and also adds some cute and funny situations. The character of Stacey, is enjoyable because of her level of honesty and acceptance of her friend, Everly's quirks. The romance is a little weak in this story, leaving the character of Chris a bit underdeveloped, but overall, Ten Rules for Faking It is an enjoyable romance with an admirable representation of anxiety disorders.

4 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was such a cute RomCom. This one has "Bachelorette" vibes. this was a delightful feel good story with a “The Bachelor” vibe. The radio station setting was very fun to read. The story was so fun and relatable (we've all been embarrassed about something, right?). The characters were wonderful! Chris and Everly (our main characters) had such cute chemistry. The side characters were so funny, and I loved all of them. There were many laugh-out-loud moments. The thing I appreciated the most was the portrayal of Everly's social anxiety. It was done in a very realistic way, which was so refreshing to read! As someone who struggles with social anxiety, it is hard to find a book that portrays it in the same way that I experience it. Overall, this was such a cute, uplifting, and enjoyable RomCom, and I highly recommend! **Special thanks to St. Martin’s Press for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.** Follow Me! This book was so fun! The secondhand embarrassment is REAL in the very beginning of the book, so if you’re easily affected by SHE, prepare yourself accordingly. 😅 This book follows Everly, a radio show producer with social anxiety, after her love life implodes on her birthday….and then gets broadcasted live by accident (this is all v beginning, so no spoilers don’t worry). The station’s new manager comes up with an idea—have Everly participate in a type of The Bachelorette spinoff: bachelors apply, she selects some for dates, and then chooses The Bachelor at the end. Things get complicated quickly as Everly’s anxiety reads its head, she becomes closer with Chris—her boss—and her parents pull her into their dramatic orbit. I really enjoyed reading Everly’s story and watching her figure things out; Chris is a cinnamon roll. 🥺 Stacey is the kickass best friend we all want. Overall, so good! Read this if: -You like workplace romance -You were a fan of The Ex Talk -You like stories with friends who don’t let you run from your shit -You like / want more books that represent what it’s like to live with anxiety

'It fascinates me the way you have a thousand thoughts to every one of mine. I could spend eternity listening to you.'

"SCI stands for Squishy Cat Industries,” he said, his gaze zeroing in on Everly.
he literally named the company after her stress toy 😫😫

“If I tell you to think of something that makes you truly happy, what’s the first thing that pops into your brain?”
Everly.

Opening her eyes, she started the car and then slid her hand in the side pocket of her purse. She pulled out Pepper, which was oddly soothing, holding it in her hand as she drove home, doing her best to think about nothing at all.

“Where’s your cat?” His eyes danced with humor, and her ribs loosened by half.
“Pepper is in my purse,” she whispered back.
“Pepper?” His voice was low.
“I named her Pepper Potts.”

Everly picked up the remote as he held out his hand, offering her the gift. She moved the paper and held up the small, soft cat squishy that fit easily in her palm, her eyes blinking rapidly.
Going on instinct, he took the hand that wasn’t holding the cat, turned it over, and ran a fingertip along the dulling red crescents that still showed. His heart and stomach twisted in opposite directions from the sight of them. “Maybe it’ll help with this.”

"If you happen to find a man who looks like Chris Pine, acts like Chris Hemsworth, smiles like Chris Pratt, and has a body like Chris Evans’s, I’ll rethink things. But until then? I am officially off the market.”
