Ten Thousand Skies Above You

Claudia Gray2015
In this sequel to A Thousand Pieces of You by New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray, Marguerite races through various dimensions to save the boy she loves. Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross through to alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurt the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked, and his consciousness is scattered across multiple dimensions. The hunt for each splinter of Paul's soul sends Marguerite racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each dimension brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with every trial she faces, she begins to question the one constant she's found between the worlds: their love for each other.

I’m really enjoying this trilogy. Paul is such a sweet and soft boy and I love him.

Wow. This is quite well-written and imaginative. Good characters, decently good plot, even if the Paul/Marguerite/Theo love triangle is annoying (when are love triangles not annoying). I love how the selves in different dimensions are discussed, and how you see the different versions and their similarities and differences. It's really a very interesting plot. I'm excited for the next one.

when i bought it i was so sure it's a standalone book but almost to the end of the book, i just found it's actually the second book of a series. (this is why i should checking on the back cover/googled information of books first ig) but honestly even though i was not familiar (at all!) with everything and everyone, it's easy to follow. the book was... sweet.

** spoiler alert ** I'd like to complain about this so if you don't like spoilers don't read on! I was really excited for this book, and it was definitely taken in the right direction, but there are so many writing and plot errors it frustrates me. Firstly, aside from errors, I have a hard time liking Margeurite's character. She is so naive and childish at some points, and then all of a sudden will have a burst of wisdom. It's annoying really. Secondly, when Theo is sick from Nighttheif in her home dimension, he's at one moment sick in the hospital bed unable to move, and the next chapter at the house working and moving around. There was no transition what so ever. Thirdly, the Triad dimension that is trying to destroy all the other ones. When our Margeurite visits the dimension, their Paul and Theo hate triad and are working against them. But in the first book, that Triad dimension Theo had stolen our Theo's body and was working for that bad Triad. And again at the end of the book, that Theo once again is seen working for Triad to bring the bad Margeurite over to the home world, when he's supposed to be working against their Triad with their Paul. What happened there? Was a plot point that was supposed to be explained not get explained or did the writer just get her writing messed up in her dimensions? That may of been really confusing but there's where I have issues with the book. If it wasn't for these points this would of been a great read.

It wasn't until the second half of the book did I start to actually enjoy it, the plot thickens as we get to the end of the book, but hell was Maugaurite fucking annoying , the first half of the book just felt repetitive and her thoughts were just making the whole situation frustrating. I loved the first book back when I first read it, I think I would've liked this book much better if I read them a while ago, the writing was just no. Too much stating the scene than actually showing it. Originally wanted to give two stars, but the last bit of the book bumped it up for me a little.

3.5⭐️ (rounded up) as much as I loved this series plot so far(and the plot twists!! those were just *chef’s kiss*) there was a point, like halfway through the book, where I just could not bring myself to read it because I felt that it got quite slow in between. But honestly, the ending was absolutely worth it! Now I did NOT see that coming lmfaoo. So glad that near the ending the pace started picking up and getting more excited as plot twists were handed out at every corner hehe BUT I do have to say that while I really enjoyed the way the plot picked up at the end, I feel that the author stuffed way too much of the good stuff wayyy at the end, leaving the middle to be a bit… eh. Maybe it’s just me, but I really felt that halfway through the book it began to get a little boring and very very slow, but that may be just me. Nonetheless, this was an exciting read and I’m happy to say I enjoyed this more than the first book and am really liking how well thought out the world building is because YESS IT’S BEAUTIFUL. I love how the author expanded the plot and added in something I did not expect at ALL. Love love love the end part of the book and looking forward to answering all the unanswered questions I have after that ending we were left on at the end 😭😭 Hopefully I enjoy the pacing for the next one more haha ~liyA

call me a skeptic, but Paul and Marguerite's love seems a bit instant and unfounded. Also, this books contains a lot more telling rather than showing and explaining versus analyzing. But all in all, I enjoyed this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat. 4/5 stars for that. The ending got me though, so I can't wait to see what happens next. Well, I guess this book isn't bad, It just couldn't keep me entertained enough to finish the entire story. This book kinda got me into a reading slump, which means it wasn't really my cup of tea. I did like the first book and I still think it's a very unique idea, but the second book couldn't really do it for me. Maybe, some day, I will try to finish this and give it another chance, but for now I'm going to leave it for what it is.

Okay, this book is better than the first, but shows that the Russian setting was absolutely unnecessary, just the author's whim. It could've been any other location.

I feel the same about this book as the first in the Firebird series, A Thousand Pieces of You; a little bit draggy throughout the beginning and middle, but the book and story-line intriguing enough to keep me hooked and then a twist I didn't even consider (maybe because I wasn't invested enough to come up with theories??) that hooks me for the last few chapters and convinces me to eventually read the next book. Honestly, it leaves me feeling odd and conflicted. I wonder if perhaps it's my timing of reading these books in an almost reading slump and wanting an intriguing, YA, sci-fi, dystopian book to pull me out. Or whether it's just the style of the book. What I DO know is that my favourite in these books has definitely changed. While I found the brooding, awkward presence of Paul in the first book mysterious and pulling, in this book it just bored me. And that was even with the 'main' Paul not present throughout the majority of the book. Theo however (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)]. Moving on - the first dimension jump into 'Warverse' with Theo definitely peaked my interest *wink wink* but after what felt like a pretty quick run through this dimension, it wasn't until the unexpected version of Paul surprised me in New York and had me wondering how the end would actually work out. Which leaves a fair chunk of the book where I was reading, but by far was not enveloped in the story as much as I could have been. And then, in true Firebird style, the ending was suddenly in my face and completely not where I was thinking things were going. And now I'm sitting here wanting to read the third book in a series that I'm not even sure if I actually enjoy or not.

This book was amazing, although I did find the ending a bit annoying it was still a great book which has been fantastically written. I can't wait for book three, and I wish that there would be another one after that but all stories have to end sometime. Thank you Claudia for creating such a magnificent story for us to follow and I hope I get to read more of your work soon!

WOw... That Cliffhanger! Did that just happen?! That ending was so intense. This book did not take me that long to read, like legit a day and 1/2. And so much happened, like Marguerite traveled to so many places! it was so cool to see other dimensions. Although I didn't enjoy Pauls and MArguerite's relationship in this book compared to previous book. This series relies heavily on the love triangle between Paul, Marguerite and Theo (I'm team Theo tbh), that at some points it got annoying to read the same conversations again and again between everyone.
