After finishing this book I am wondering who I have to be more afraid of. I don't want to name names because I don't want to give any clue or hints about the plot, but just when I thought I figured the characters out, I didn't. 

The book was engaging and one of the main protagonists, Kate was my favorite. Her character was strong and resilient and I never really knew if I could trust her or not. Same goes for Olivia, goodness was I wrong about her. I mean, I was wrong about everyone, except for Mark. His character was a bit predictable, just a wee bit, but I was okay with that because I didn't want to mistrust my judgment on him. 

As the story progresses you get these bits and pieces of each character's back-story, BUT you don't really know until the end what is real and what isn't. That helped with keeping myself in the story, I NEEDED to know what the hell was going to happen. This is probably the vaguest review ever, but I don't want to give anything away. The book got some bad reviews on here, but personally, I really enjoyed this book. That ending though... gah, that's what kept me from giving it 4.5 stars (if I could of course). I craved more closure than the author gave us. 

Plus, I wanted to hear more about Johnny. ;)

This book was indeed similar to Gossip Girl, but far more gruesome, and somehow with more secrets. It was a good novel with a solid plot, and the mystery kept me interested. I also liked that there was some romance in the story as well, but that it didn’t overwhelm the plot. My official rating is a 3.9, but i do recommend the book!

"Ehh" pretty accurately sums up my feelings about this book. The plot is cookie cutter & the side characters are galling stereotypes. The twists were telegraphed and, frankly, I'm not sure I liked how it was handled in general. 

When I put the book down, I began to wonder at the title choice too; "Beware That Girl" gives the vibe of a book being about ~girls going wild~~~ but this was 100% not the case in the plot. "Beware That Obviously Skeevy Sociopath" more like. 

The upsides to this book are Kate and Olivia, the main characters & the only ones that benefited from more than 5 seconds of effort for characterization. Both were enticingly twisted, but the ending felt anti-climactic and in my mind did them both a disservice. Still, this was an easy read and serviced enough of my "scandalous rich girls in private school" needs for now.

Well this book was certainly a bit of a rollercoaster. 

Beware That Girl follows Katie O'Brien, a poor orphaned scholarship girl, and Olivia Sumner, her seemingly complete opposite, over the course of six months, and the friendships and romances they develop. 
Both girls have secrets, but Katie basically picks Olivia out as being vulnerable and is going to exploit that to ensure she gets into Yale. 

Yep, this story is full of lies and deceit and manipulation from start to finish. 

The ending twist? Probably a little bit predictable but still enjoyable nonetheless. I was pitying Olivia throughout the whole book, thinking that she was being taken advantage of, but the ending definitely added a little bit of depth to her character even if it was stereotypical. 

This is a book that is full of stereotypes; the heavily accented housekeeper, the private schoolgirls self-medicating and being whisked away at even the hint of a scandal, the mysterious and charming male member of staff who's clearly hiding something under the dazzling smile. It's all stereotypical and you almost know how it's going to end from the start, but once the shallow writing and mostly two-dimensional characters fade a little bit (i.e. once you near the end of the book) this does 

Beware That Girl was definitely marketed wrong and definitely suffered as a result. The characters feel like teenagers (as in 15ish) but with their ages and the adult material this should definitely be classed as a new adult novel. Because it straddles these two genres, it's hard to pin down exactly what it's trying to do and accomplish. 

Yes, this book could have been better. But yes, this book did have enjoyable elements. The dynamic between Olivia and Kate was particularly interesting, and the sinister yet loving edge to it was probably the most interesting part of Beware That Girl. 

If you're looking for strong and interesting characters then this is not the book for you. If however, you're looking for characters that you love to hate, and to waste a few hours going down the rabbit hole, well then, this is the book for you.
