This was an interesting read. It was a slower read to get through and I had moments of wanting to give up, not that it was boring or awful. I personally just got anxious as I have a pile of books calling my name to read. I would recommend if you have the time and patience and also if you love learning about different cultures.

I really enjoyed this book because of its descriptions of local customs and societal norms in Togo and Greenland, written from a non-western perspective. The "story" jumps around a bit and not much actually "happens" in Greenland, but I stayed interested to the end because I liked hearing about how these native societies worked.

My favorite quote is
"It would be true to say that, aside from all political disagreements, e persistent hostility that divides our country's tribes is often caused by food taboos. Thoug it may not appear so on the surface, our relations are often governed by the saying, 'Tell me what you eat and I'll tell you who you are.',"

2021 is the year I fell in love with travelogues and this one is the most unique one yet. It's set in a time before I was born and in a place I might never probably reach. It's also raw and does not shy away from describing both the ugliness and beauty of a place in equal measure
