What really made this book for me was the narration by Francisco Pryor Garat. THANKS FOR THE TROUBLE is like an onion. (weird metaphor, i know.) there are so many layers to the plot that i feel like every time you read it would be a different experience. this is a book i want to reread (right now, actually) and annotate and fill the margins with notes and ponder over for a few hours/days/years. 

things i also really liked:
+ writing style!! (A++++)
+ the ending and ultimate resolution
+ uniqueness of the plot & characters
+ the themes
+ the size (because it's quite small and was really easy to finish) (tiny, but mighty)
+ THE WRITING STYLE
+ everything, basically

I hated every second of this i'm not even SORRY. If I had been physically reading this, I would've DNF'd it ages ago. But since I listened to it on audio, I (regrettably) decided to push through. Just happy it's over.

I wanted to like this book. There was something in it, perhaps just the character of Zelda, that I found myself liking. But other than that, the book was just off. It was all over the place in this messy, purposefully way. I know some characters are supposed to be erratic and do wild things but this pushed beyond that. It was chaotic for the simple fact of being so. It made it hard to enjoy certain aspects of the book. I also just found that I couldn't like Parker, there was nothing (aside from his love of writing) that made me like him. Yes, he is a troubled kid who went through a lot. Everyone has been through a lot. He just shuts himself off from the world and then blames everyone else because he's failing and doesn't enjoy life. That's just not how things work. 
I was so close to liking this book. I can see a lot of other people enjoying it. But there was just something about the whole book, the way that it progressed, that just doesn't sit right with me. 
It's a very interesting tale though; a boy who won't talk who writes fantasy short stories that are quite brilliant and a silver-haired girl who is suicidal and immortal. That sounds like a great beginning to a story for figuring out what it really means to live your life and be happy. Don't let my opinion stop you from reading the book. I think I might have read this book at a bad point, when I've been in the middle of so many romance novels and craving fantasy books. Perhaps I will return to this book in a few months and find that it touched me a way that Perks of Being a Wallflower did. That's what this book reminds me.

A quick, cute and quite original story with a very well written protagonist and a set of interesting, albeit a little cliché, side characters.

I really liked it.

This book is a refreshing and easy read. If you are looking for a break from heavier reads this is an easy one to grasp. I enjoyed the style in which the book was written with interesting chapter names and how the chapters told the story. I felt that the story romanticized serious topics like mental illness and suicide a bit which was a problem for me.
