The 6th Target

When a lone gunman goes on a shooting spree aboard a packed San Francisco ferry, Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer is called in to investigate. At the scene she finds three people dead and Claire Washburn fighting for her life. Lindsay promises to find whoever did this. But it's a promise she may not be able to keep. As the investigation makes its way to court, news of a child abduction comes through. Lindsay discovers that more children have been taken. But with no ransom demands the abductions don't seem to make sense - unless the kidnappers aren't planning on returning their hostages... The clock is ticking as Lindsay tries to fit all the pieces together. She knows that if she doesn't find the children quickly it will be too late...

Yet another great addition to the Women's Murder Club series! Super fast paced, and overall a great and enjoyable read. I love these ladies!

Meh. Again... sometimes I wonder why I even keep reading this series. This one wasn't terrible but it wasn't exactly excellent either! I greatly disliked how much it jumped around from one thing to another and I also greatly disliked the way that Lindsay was acting through the whole thing. It seemed like the writer was trying to make her into the stereotypical woman who can't stick to one idea or make her own decisions. It was really stupid because I never got that vibe off of Lindsay before, it seemed very out of place. There was very little of any of the other women from the murder club in this one other than Yuki's trial more toward the middle and end of the book and I absolutely HATED all of it. It seemed pointless, like they were just racking up word count at that point. I could be wrong... there may have been a point... but I didn't get it. Things I did like? I liked the kidnapping case, how it started, where it ended. It was different than what I had expected it to be and I liked that. The murder's in Cindy's apartment building seemed like just another plot device that didn't really add much. Seriously... there was just entirely too much going on at once, you could barely keep up, it was like watching a tennis match between 10 different people. Worst of all? It ended in a cliff hanger so now I'm destined to crack open book 7 some time this week despite my internal protests. There are 13 books in this series so far... here's to hoping the next 6 are better than the first 6.
