I have been looking for the perfect guilty pleasure book for a long time now. While I can't in good faith give this book anything over 3 stars- the writing, characters, and plot weren't worth much- the sheer pleasure I got from reading it was enough to make me happy I took the time to read it. This book reminded me of being 12 and loving the Canterwood Crest books, although I must admit I do think that the authors (of this book) are far more knowledgeable than the author of the CC series. Of course, I'm also an East Coaster, more specifically a New Englander. I ride, though I don't show, and where I live, hunter/jumper/eq is everything. The barn I ride at now is a hunter/jumper/eq. I understand the world that the A Circuit is describing, though I can see why non-horsey people or Western riders might not get all of the lingo. My favorite character was Tommi, I didn't like Zara, and thought that Kate had the personality of cardboard. I couldn't relate to any of them, since my family isn't as rich as Tommi's, definitely not famous like Zara's, but not as poor as Kate's. Still, it was fun escapism and the fact that I read this book on a beautiful beach on the New Jersey shore didn't damper my opinion on it at all. I already ordered the next book off Amazon.
