A compelling composite narrative of the EIC from its early stages.

A type of history book that I love. Right length, not too long and not too short, around 400pp of actual text. Richly sourced - literature and footnotes is a fifth of the whole page count. Very accessible style, balanced with whole lot of quotations from first-hand accounts of events. Of course it is very entertaining with lots of new information for me. I was completely unaware of the role of Wellesley brothers in conquest of India, for example.
