I've had this on my TBR for a while now, so I was looking forward to finally picking it up and it was the epitome of meh. Usually, I find the scarred-hero-who-doesn't-think-they're-deserving-of-love trope entertaining, but this one was a little too angsty for my liking. I was rolling my eyes every time Thane mentioned how beastly his scars made him look. I did enjoy the banter between him and Astrid, and the chemistry between them was good, but I never found myself invested in the actual plot.

The Beast of Beswick was such a fantastic book here and boy I was hooked on this story. This is the first book in her Everleigh Sisters Series.  I just love a great Beauty and Beast retelling and this one takes the CAKE. Its always refreshing to find a new author to love and I really had such a blast with this one. She is one of those that really pulls you into a story and honestly it was the heart of the characters that really tugged at my emotions for this one.

What this book begins with is our heroine is very protective of her sister but they are orphans and their uncle is their guardian at least until Lady Astrid turns 26 which she is just a handful of months short of. But when her younger sister is about to be forced into a marriage that caused much pain and grief for Astrid she knows that she needs to come up with a plan to save her and so she goes to the formidable and scarred Duke of Beswick. Nathaniel Harte fought in the war and came back heavily scarred and keeps to his estate and terrorizes his servants and his hobby is shattering priceless artifacts of his father whom he despises. But the moment Astrid comes to him with a plan, he is not ready for this formidable and courageous young woman who stands her ground and isn't fearful of his scars. They come to an agreement, Astrid will catalog his father's artifacts for an auction and he will let Astrid and her sister stay in his home while they hide from her uncle until she comes into her inheritance and they can't be touched. But plans don't always go the way you expect and a fierce love builds between Beswick and Astrid, but will Astrid lose her sister in the process? And will their love be worth fighting for?

The Beast of Beswick was such a powerful story that sweeps you away into this historical world of danger, villains and secret desires. We have such a great relationship that we see between Astrid and her sister, we see a fun yet passionate romance build between Beswick and Astrid and some unique plot formatting especially toward the end that kept me on the edge of my seat. I honestly was on tinderhooks through most of this story and highly impressed with the few shocks along the way. I am so EAGER for Isobel's story. Because her character is what really surprised me the most. Through most of the story we see her character be so shy and timid, but we see her true strength come out in the love she has for her sister and crafting her own future on her own terms and I have a feeling her book will pack a powerful punch.

The romance that forms between Astrid and Beswick was so fascinating, Astrid is such a strong heroine, ballsy and very set in her own ways. She knows herself and has that confidence and surety that pulls Beswick's attention. There is such powerful chemistry that builds between them that is gravitating in a unique way. They both contain very strong personalities but we see how they really balance each other in various ways. I loved seeing them get past their hurdles and realize their love for each other and fight for it!!

An empowering love story that will take you on an adventure of laughs, endearing characters and fascianting plot points to keep the reader engaged until the very end!! Truly Empowering!

From start to end, the scandalously naughty Meg (my spirit animal) made this novel an instant hit and her encounters with Lucien and how easily she made him submit to her seductive ways were thus far my favorite scenes throughout my read . It had everything you're looking for: historical elements, tempting heroine, brooding hero and a whirlwind (more like instant love) romance that will surely knock you off your feet. I had this down in one sitting and it definitely felt a lot shorter than 200 pages. Nevertheless, a quick and easy read that any reader can find enjoyable.

A fun, witty and delightful regency romance. The characters were lovable, the world was vivid and the writing was fantastic. The story had me enthralled from start to finish and even though this was my second time reading this book, I loved it just as much as before, maybe more! Perfect for fans of Bridgerton and Evie Dunmore.

The Beast of Berwick was nice but not very memorable. I can see this book being a perfect palate cleanser(I may or may not reread it) and for someone that lives for Beauty and The Beast retellings, can't say I loved this one that much. It's just meh. I've been reading a lot so my not loving this could be chalked up to my impending book slump. I don't like the female protagonist's sister and I don't like the fact that she was literally 16 and got married to a guy wayyyyyyyy older than her. I know this was the order of the day as at that time but I was just grossed out.

I loved this book! 
Thane is a very wounded war hero who wants nothing more that to be left alone. Playing baseball with his deceased fathers priceless antiques. When a feisty woman named Astrid marches her way into his house, and gives him a proposition of marriage. She needs to get married in order to protect her younger sister from having to marry the same man that ruined Astrids reputation some years ago. Astrid knows that if she marries, her husband will become her sisters guardian and will be able to protect her. 
However Thane doesn't think he needs a wife and turns her down flat. Although a little later decides to hire her to catalog his antiques in order to sell them. and of course start on their journey of slowly falling in love... 
The two definitely have some sexual tension from the very beginning. Even though Astrid has doesn't want to, and Thane thinks no woman will ever really want him due to his horrible scars on his face and body.. 

I love Astrid and Thane and thought they really belonged together, also I love in historical romances when we get an epilogue. It was a super cute glimpse into their future. 
This is most def. a book I will reread, and I am looking forward to more books by this author. :)

Totally Addicted to Reading

It has been awhile since I read a historical romance, but after reading the blurb for The Beast of Beswick, I knew I had to read it, and I am so glad got the opportunity to do so. I enjoyed Astrid and Thane’s story. It had all the feels, and it swept me away and kept me reading through the wee hours.

Astrid and her sister are under the guardianship of their aunt and uncle until they got married. Astrid’s chances of getting married were ruined when the man who had been courting her ruined her reputation. Since then, her sole focus was on protecting her sister. She was determined that her sister had the chance to marry well, but their uncle had other plans. He intends to marry Astrid’s sister to the same man who had ruined her reputation. Astrid is no fool, and she devised a strategy, which involves finding a husband to thwart her uncle’s plan. The perfect man for her plan was none other than the Duke of Beswick, Lord Nathaniel Harte.

Thane dubbed the Beast of Beswick because of scars he received while at war. The scars were so severe he rarely appears in public because of the stares, whispering and ridicule he faces. Physical scars was not his only issue. His biggest issue were the scars, which were buried deep in is heart. Scars, which led to him distancing himself from his peers and living in complete isolation. He believes no woman would want to be with him much less to marry him. So imagine his surprise when Astrid approached him with what he considered a ridiculous proposal.

I found their initial meeting fun, which led to me wanting more of these two. Their chemistry was undeniable. There may have been instant, but their love for each grew overtime. Thane fought his feelings, but with a strong, outspoken, independent and determined woman like Astrid, he didn’t stand a chance of winning that battle.

The secondary characters played an important role in driving the story. Thane’s valet, butler and aunt had me laughing throughout most of the story. Thane’s aunt had no shame, and she made no apologies for her actions. His valet and butler proved to more than mere servants. They did not fear speaking their minds especially in the face of Thane’s ire.

The author weaved an emotional and steamy tale and I enjoyed her spin on the classic Beauty and the Beast.

Conclusion/Recommendation
I have no reservations recommending this book to fans of historical romance. I enjoyed Thane and Astrid’s story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

The Beast of Beswick has to be one of my favorite Beauty and the Beast re-telling! Lord Nathaniel was lonely and mad & Lady Astrid was head strong and would do anything to save her sister from the horrible duke. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts and I loved every interaction they had.

Also, Astrid has an encounter with the duke mentioned before and what she says to him literally made me laugh out loud and just think YAS GIRL. She has become one of my favorite heroines in a historical romance that I’ve read so far and makes me want to recommend this book to everyone!

Lady Astrid Everleigh tries to convince the infamous Duke of Beswick to marry her so she can stave off the horrible man trying to wed her young sister, the same man who ruined her during her debut. Lord Nathaniel Harte wants nothing to do with marriage or society, especially since his return from the war and his horrible scarring has made him, in his mind, unfit for either. But Astrid is a tempting conundrum he can't seem to get out of his mind, or heart.

Absolutely delicious and a fabulous Beauty and the Beast inspired romance, this was the perfect vacation read. Astrid is feminist and fierce and fights for what she believes in. There are absolutely sexy love scenes, especially involving the Beast's swimming pool room AND a chaise lounge. Oh yes. 

The story arc did meander a bit and there were a few too many break moments between Nathaniel and Astrid, but overall this was a very fun read and I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series!
