The Best Man by Richard Peck

Archer begins his story in 1st grade. He tells of the first wedding he was in as ring bearer, how he met Lynette Stanley, his time at school etc. The book wraps up as Archer is in 6th grade and is the best man in a wedding. During the book, Archer learns a lot about people, love and other important topics. This book was a good, quick read full of humor and hijinks. I think middle school readers through adult readers would enjoy it. I received a copy of this book from Amazon Vine in exchange for a honest review.

Thank you, Richard Peck, for writing such an important book. Thank you for taking the subject of gay marriage and normalizing it into a heartwarming, funny, and relatable story about love and life. Thank you for pushing aside the painful stereotypes, as so many other books and forms of media have failed to do. I wish I could place a copy of this book in every mailbox and school in America. This book should be taught to schoolchildren in order to help them understand and embrace the fact that love is love and that acceptance is key, no matter your sexuality, race, gender, size, age, etc. If you are searching for a source of hope and positivity amidst the horrors of America's current political system, look no further than The Best Man. You will not be disappointed.
