I hate books that purposely use improper grammar. It is impossible to get into the story, and I focus more on the stupidity of the grammar than on the storyline.

oh the memories of my childhood!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

About 1-2 years ago, my Mom and I read this. It's a really good story. Most kids think giants are mean and scary, but the BFG isn't. BFG - Big Friendly Giant

Read this to my daughter one chapter at a time before bed. What fun!

With the youngest.

Matilda has been overthrown! Will it keep the throne after I eventually read The Complete Adventures of Charlie and Mr. Willy Wonka? This one is hard to beat!

Not as good as Matilda but we both enjoyed it.

My mom used to read the BFG to my brother, sister, and I in one of our rooms before she had us go to bed.

I wasn't a huge fan of this book but I do see how it would inspire wonder for a younger audience. My brother really enjoyed the novel and I'm glad it gave him an enjoyment for reading.

I really loved this story. It was so cute and really fun to read. I loved the world building but also how much adult stuff was thrown in. Such a fast pace read.

Reread for the movie coming out. I really enjoyed this book. Less than I did when I was a kid though. I was surprised how much I forgot about this book. Like i knew the mail story arc but the fun "details" I totally forgot. And those definetly made this story more magical. I'm excited to see what the movie brings to the story once I go see it.

I thought I read this when I was younger because I remembered part of the ending (but nothing else) but it turns out I’ve only been read this story when I was younger by my classmate’s mom. Reading it now gives me such a different perspective, especially since I took a children's literature class in college that helped me read into the author’s choices for certain words and phrases. Anyways, I loved this book for all its fantastical (Giant country) and absurd (the BFG's way of talking) elements and found the ending quite clever. Roald Dahl is such a masterful storyteller and is great at dishing out punishment to the depraved and wicked in his stories. Sophie and the BFG have a special place in my heart, alongside Charlie Bucket and Matilda. I want to read all of Roald Dahl’s other books now!

Ahh, the BFG. Where to start? KAJHLKJSAFALSKJDFHSDF! This book is a part of my soul. It's one of the first 'big' books I remember my mother reading to me (although she's read to me since I was an infant) and ever since then it leads to all the fantastic reads we've experienced together. It holds a special place dear to my heart.

A review from my old blog... I cannot say enough good things about this book. I have never read a children's book this absolutely magnificent. To be honest, I could not put the book down. I don't really know how to critique a children's book. I guess I'll just say that I absolutely loved the book...everything about it.

Read with Bernie! She loved the story and especially the giant's made up words.

It was fun. Really glad I read it. Hope to suggest it to a niece or nephew one day. Very cute, indeed.

Just as delightful as I remember! :)

Although Roald Dahl is a rampant Antisemite, I wanted to read this book because of my love of the Queen. For that fact and that fact alone, I loved it. Also, the film does this book so much justice.

Cute and heartfelt💘
