This is the third Black Lizard anthology edited by Penzler that I've read, and it was immensely enjoyable. He deftly mixes classics such as The Speckled Band with selections by authors that are largely - and unjustly - forgotten, as well as by folks that more snobbish readers might sneer at (Wodehouse, Erle Stanley Gardner). There are misses, but it's overall one excellent adventure after another.
