This book had a really interesting concept, that of redemption and what makes us good people. A blend of a mystery, an isolated society of criminals and the moral dilemma of innocence. This book asks some very interesting questions about who we are with and without our memories and who we can change to become.
I'd have liked to see more of a mystery angle woven into this as it felt like one thread was solved quite quickly and the other was introduced quite late. However, I do this game to a really gripping conclusion and delivered an interesting ending.

Sometimes you pull a book off your shelf and are amazed at a choice past you made. This book was wildly interesting. Sternbergh takes the idea of witness protection to a whole new level and investigates the possibility of placing those who need a fresh start, both criminals and possibly innocents, all together with no memory of what they did to end up in the town affectionately known as the Blinds. Each gets a new name and a new life, but as one can imagine, it eventually all goes to hell. Each time you think you've got the story figured out the plot thickens. These characters will rope you in and having you wondering if erasing little memory can truly change a person after all.

Het verhaal is orgineel, maar vond de uitvoering minder. De spanning werd eruit gehaald doordat de auteur al snel duidelijk maakt wie het is. Alleen waarom weet je niet. Had een ander verhaal verwacht eigenlijk.

This follows a group of criminals that enter a program that erases past misdeeds and moves them to a tiny town where they live out their days. Then the murders begin---a murder mystery, bad decision and interesting cast of characters. Some slow parts in between but the ending is very fast & exciting. Really enjoyed.

The concept for this book was creative and interesting from the start, and I was absolutely pulled in to the world of the Blinds from page 1. I really enjoyed this book.
