She needs their blood-the blood of Olympus-in order to wake. The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps. Festus's claw opened, and Jason and Piper fell. Jason had no strength to stop it. He held on to Piper as she cried Leo's name, and they plummeted earthward.

In a lash of bronze, Gaea was swept off the hillside, snarled in the claws of a fifty-ton metal dragon. Festus, reborn

“But no shadow-travel." "But…”  “No."

An ominous black cloud billowed from the deck. The Argo IIbegan to sink. "Leo!" Jason cried.

"So this is where the rivalry started," Percy said. Yeah." Percy pulled  Annabeth close and kissed her… “the rivalry ends here” Percy said. “I love you, Wise Girl.”

"Like your zodiac sign?" Percy asked. "Im a Leo." "No, stupid," Leo said. Im a Leo. You're a Percy."

Once in the engine room, with only Buford the Wonder Table for company, Leo took a deep breath. He reached into his tool belt and pulled out the actual vial of physician's -not the trick-of-the-Mist version he'd handed to Piper. 

His friends would never accept his decision.

"Unacceptable," Hygeia said calmly. "Decapitation a healthy lifestyle choice."

"Have some Gatorade." "II don't want "You'll have some Gatorade," the coach insisted. Nico had some Gatorade. He was surprised at how thisty he was.

That word didn't make sense to Nico. The Underworld had no mercy. It only had justice.

It’s always a bitter sweet feeling when I reach the end of a Series that I have loved as its time to say goodbye to the characters I have come to enjoy and I have to find a new book to Pick up Next!

This was an excellent ending to the Heroes of Olympus series; I really must admire how Riordan managed to build a world that combined Greek and Roman mythologies in a way that made it feel real and that we were living in it today. Obscure gods and goddesses, monsters, creatures, and quests are blended into the story to help bring it life on the page. I really loved the new characters, like Piper and Jason and Leo, and really loved how the old characters like Percy, Annabeth, and Nico evolved though the course of this series.

The Seven were true heroes, from head to toes, from heart to soul. They demonstrated trough all their journey, the true meaning of friendship and never giving up. They were amazing, and when the gods came to fight beside them, I could not contain a smile

Blood of Olympus is an epic finale of the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series. It's full of everything. Rick Riordan, thank you for writing a story that no matter your age they are full of humour and relatable.  For Percy, for all the Seven, for Nico and Tyson and every character. Because they all had an incredible roll. They all played an important part. We all do and thank you for reminding us that.

Omg this book was epic !! I am so sad that this the end of this series ...but there still is the Trials of apollo that I should go start right away . My favourite character is Leo he is so funny !! a small anecdote : When I entered the metro (it is like a subway ) I could not find any place to sit so I leaned myself on a door . As I i kept on reading the metro got crowded and i had to squeeze my book into corner in order to keep on reading. In the chapter i had been reading i remember Leo Valdez saying a cringey ass line and i burst out laughing like a mad woman (everyone side-eyed me). To get me to have these kind of reactions IN PUBLIC is an exploit in itself.

           Percy Jackson has always been and always will be my favorite book series, and I've been a fan since sixth grade. However, I only gave Blood of Olympus three stars out of five because I have multiple issues with this book.

First of all, remember in Son of Neptune, when Ares told Frank he would have to help Percy with a big problem involving his personal loyalty? This was built up over the course of three books, which led me to believe Percy would face a huge challenge. Instead, it was solved in two paragraphs. A bit anti-climatic, to be honest.

The book also generally felt too rushed. The battles were almost too short, and were solved too easily. This makes it seem like fighting the Titans may have actually been harder, despite the Giants apparently being the bigger threat.

Next, Leo, while I love his character, did act very self-centered in this book. Whether that was Riordan's intention or not, I don't know.

In order to keep this review from getting too long, I'll only mention one more point. Neither Percy nor Annabeth had a point of view. While I understand why, I would have at least appreciated Annabeth's point of view, seeing as she's only had one in two of the books. I wanted to find out what happened to them personally after Tartarus.

That being said, there were parts that I loved. Nico and Reyna's chapters, for instance, were amazing, and I enjoyed every second. I love that we got to see the events from their eyes.

It’s always my favorite characters in media that have to die. I’m glad Leo isn’t actually dead though.

So are they supposed to think Leo is dead forever? Like we couldn’t get a reunion?

All that buildup for the Gaea battle to be 5 min ultra long. I was expecting more.

I had just a few issues with this book. 

first of all, WHY WOULD PERCY NOT BE A POV CHARACTER? I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Nico and Reyna, but wouldn't you include ALL SEVEN demigods from the prophecy before adding extraneous POV characters? You know, that's just a choice that I would've made.

But I DO feel that Nico and Reyna's POV's were relevant, because otherwise we'd be stuck just with the prophecy characters and have no idea what was going on elsewhere. But, I have a friend who theorized that BOTH Reyna and Nico were not needed. I'm not sure if I entirely agree with that, but it's something to think on.

Second of all, Leo's humor was so tasteless in this novel. I mean, he was the funniest character, he was unique and inventive, and this in this novel we have a line where they're talking about astrological signs and Percy says "I'm a Leo," and then Leo says, "No, dummy, you're a Percy." which is only one example of the obvious and, yes, tasteless jokes used throughout this novel.

But I do think the ending was solid. I was satisfied.

I DEFINITELY could have asked for a better ending, but there were a lot of ways this ending could have gone WAAAAAY wrong.

The final blow for me (and this was a problem in the previous books, Mark of Athena and House of Hades is the choice of names. Specifically it's the inclusion of a Piper and a Leo. And here's where I show my age. Together, they reminded me of original Charmed and not in a good way.

I avoid reading this book for a year and a half because I was not so much convinced how it has no Percabeth chapters. The only chapter POV I really loved was Leo's. Nico's and Reyna's were fine because I get to know more about them. Leo died and then came back where he landed back in Ogygia. My poor smol child Nico has been through a lot and I'm so happy for him and Will Solace. I ship them. I still ship Jeyna tho idk why. I liked Jasper and I know they are meant to be together but i just don't. Reyna, my precious cinnamon roll. She is badass, strong, and a leader. The lack of Percabeth made me pissed off somehow though. Thalia and Hylla's appearances in the book made me so happy. Percy and Leo's humour still made me laugh. God, I missed them (bc ya know I've been avoiding reading this for like 19 months). Octavian's demise is absolutely just epic. I was like "boooo, good riddance." He was so frickin annoyin. Annabeth and Piper's team up in Sparta awww I was like "you go girls! such badasses" Seeing Annabeth vulnerable :( :(. Frank and Hazel yassss I ship them too and I'm glad they're okay. And oh-- Nico staying in Camp Half-Blood, Percabeth planning on there graduating on high school & college and staying at New Rome for as long as they want. The Greeks and the Romans finally getting along! It is so good. I just wished it "ended" differently. HoO Still one of my favorite book series and my favorite book in that series is either, MoA or HoH. I'm gonna miss reading about the 7 demigods and the others fighting on their quest with Gaea.

there's a lot of things that i dislike about this book and that were really disappointing but i can't help but like it anyways

so i remember this book being a letdown when i was 13, and it still holds true to this day. the ending and conclusion was so lackluster. the pacing was off again, and not having a percy/annabeth pov really threw everything off too considering they were barely in this book. reyna and nico’s chapters did carry though!!! pushed through for them honestly. the final fight with gaea only lasted about two chapters??? i was expecting this to be epic considering it was a finale book but this just fell very flat

Rick why do you have to romantically pair up nearly every main character? To be honest for the last book of the series, it wasn't as amazing as I felt it should have been. Leo's romance with Calypso felt so forced and the fighting scenes weren't that epic..but one thing that kept me reading was Reyna and Nico who I really loved reading about.

Seven heroic demigods. One final quest. The greatest sacrifice yet. 'The ruins are up there,' Piper promised. 'I saw them in Katoptris's blade. And you heard what Hazel said. 'The biggest' - ' ''The biggest gathering of evil spirits I've ever sensed.'' Jason recalled. 'Yeah, sounds awesome.' After battling through the underground temple of Hades, the last thing Jason wanted was to deal with more evil spirits. But the fate of the quest was at stake. The crew of the Argo IIhas a big decision to make. If they chose wrong, they would fail, and the entire world would be destroyed . . .

At the beginning of this year, I started reading the Heroes of Olympus series - a companion series to the Percy Jackson series that I'd read and loved the years before. I didn't fall in love with this series immediately - mostly because I missed the old characters (even though most of them made appearances in this first book) - but I enjoyed it very much. Then, as I read on, I started to love this series more and more. A couple of days ago I finally started reading the last book in this series, and let me tell you: Oh my gods! 

At the end of The House of Hades the group found Percy and Annabeth at the doors of death, and Nico, Reyna and Coach Hedge decided to take the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood. In The Blood of Olympus we follow both groups as they struggle to get to their destination - being chased by venti, challenged by goddesses and hunted by giants. They need to find where Gaia is being resurrected, but of course - that is not an easy job when you're a demigod.

I personally really loved this book, very very much. The last book in the Percy Jackson series - The Last Olympian - was mostly about the battle in New York, I seriously think half of that book was filled with battle, and it got a bit annoying after a while. BoO is filled with more quests and trouble, and while I also find that a slight bit annoying (so many delays whyyyyyyy), it was also very exciting, because what will happen next - who will they have to find/fight next?

My personal favourite part was the part where they had to find and capture Nike, goddess of victory. For some reason she reminded me of the White Witch in Narnia, on her chariot demanding the demigods fight each other and see who was victorious - Greek or Roman.

The final battle - or well battles, seeing as there were two - where exciting and thrilling and all of the above, I just couldn't stop reading. I was in bed last night trying to finish the book before 12 because I really really needed to sleep before 12 because I had to get up at 7 today. But I hadn't expected the ending to be that sad, so instead of sleeping I sat in my bed sobbing for a while. I won't spoil anything, obviously, and honestly I had seen it coming, but oh my gods it was just so effing sad.

Characterwise, I think my favourites were definitely Leo, Piper and Reyna. I had liked Leo since the first book already, and he just grew on me more throughout the series. He was the comic relief, but he was also more than that. He was the incredible inventor who created so many things, heck he built the Argo II, and Festus and all those amazing things that saved the Demigods' lives throughout this entire series. (view spoiler)[When he died I got so sad I sobbed for the rest of the book. But I kept hope, and eventually he ended up not being dead. I had never been so happy! Honestly I wasn't that surprised he was still alive, because he had a promise to keep to Calypso, but yeah you know I was a bit afraid. (hide spoiler)] Piper was just so cool, for a daughter of Aphrodite (just kidding); her charmspeak got so much better in this series, she was able to used it on gods and goddesses, something the Piper from The Lost Hero probably wouldn't have been able to do. (They all just grew so much in this series, but Piper's growth was amazing, I loved that battle between her and Khione and those two dudes whose name I kept on forgetting).

And Reyna, oh gods - I didn't like her that much when we first met her, mainly because she just seemed so... cold. I honestly didn't really know what to think of her, but in this book we got to read from her POV, and we got to know more about her past and I just started liking her more and more. It's save to say she's one of my favourite characters in this series now - and that's counting PJO.

I heard from a lot of people that they hated the fact that this book didn't have any chapters from Percy or Annabeth's POV, but honestly I didn't really care. We got to read enough about them in the Percy Jackson series - this series wasn't about Percy, even though all the books said something about him on the cover (I just noticed this and it annoys me a lot). The Heroes of Olympus is about Jason, Piper, Leo and Frank and Hazel. Yes Percy and Annabeth are part of the seven of the prophecy, but they aren't the main focus here. That's the reason the first book wasn't Percy's story, but Jason's. (view spoiler)[I really liked how Jason, Piper and Leo were the ones to defeat Gaia in the end, because they were the ones that this story started with, and they should have been the ones to end it. Percy already defeated Kronos, and honestly he deserves a break from defeating all the evil people all the time. (hide spoiler)]

In the end, I loved The Blood of Olympus as much as it broke my heart. I will definitely reread the series and the PJO series whenever I can/want, and I cannot wait to get started in another one of Rick Riordan's mythology books - The Sword of Summer! And of course I'll try out his Egyptian series as well!

there really isn't much to say without spoiling but..

if you haven’t read anything by rick riordan.. then what are you waiting for?! the percy jackson series is like my version of the harry potter series. it’s been around since i was in fourth grade and i had to wait for all the books to come out slowly year after year. rick riordan has an amazing way with connecting with readers and staying very “in the know” (using jokes/references from pop culture). the plot follows stories/myths from ancient times, but he makes it modern and relatable. all of rick riordan’s characters are extremely notable and i just.. *heart eye emoji* if you haven’t read anything by rick riordan.. you’re really missing out. put the percy jackson series (not the heroes of olympus. not yet.) on the top of your tbr list. like now.

if you’ve read the percy jackson series, but haven’t read the heroes of olympus.. you should pick the lost hero up, unless, of course, you didn’t like the pjo series (which i beg to differ. no one could dislike the pjo series.. right?) the hoo series isn’t as enjoyable as pjo, but you should still read it. for me, it was hard to get through because i couldn’t accept the new characters. i wanted percy, annabeth, and grover. i wanted to see their adventures, not these annoying new people. but after finishing the last book, i know you’ll like this series as well (if not more). you must read this. the biggest turn-off for me was that it was written in third person pov instead of first person like in pjo, but you’ll learn to like it.

if you’ve read all the previous books in hoo but not this one.. i’m just going to assume you either A) ordered the book online and hasn’t come in the mail yet or B) you need to buy/borrow it from someone or C) you’re not mentally prepared to enter this. (i waited an extra week because i was C.)
