I have rather mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, it wasn't fluffy the way I expected it to be. Thought-provoking in spots, and a couple of pages literally made me cry (once in a hotel restaurant, which was just awkward). But the protagonist ... oh Esme. She was relatable on one level, wise at times, but she makes so many bad choices in regards to her romantic interest. And she's aware they're bad choices as she's making them, but does/says them anyway. Ugh. If there was character growth, it was so subtle as to be nearly unrecognizable, which I think is what I found so frustrating.

Definitely not my favorite. Had very strong feelings of hate toward one character. Finished, but won't read again.

This book is different. The writing style was somewhat all over the place and the dialogue short and choppy... But it worked. For me that is. There were lots of references made to artists and authors and books, and I wrote a few down (they seemed interesting), but it can be overwhelming for a reader that likes to understand every single aspect of the book they are reading. 

As a reader who reads more sci-fi and fantasy then books that have somewhat more "realistic" characters I absolutely loved this book. And that's because I hated it at times. Esme is human. And Meyler did an incredible job of it. I loved Esme's intellect, her way of speaking, her sense of loss and confusion in the world and the people around her (I could sadly relate very well to it); but it was also these traits that sometimes grated on my nerves. There were some cases were, yeah, the initial shock will make you speechless at first, but she never said anything. She just let it go. And... Gah. It just got annoying sometimes. 

 And wow. Mitchell. I hope, to God that I never meet a person like this. Ever. His thought process and speaking we're similar to Esme's but.. . His whole personality was just annoying to me. But I can get where Esme feels she can never stop loving him. Love is blind and all that. 


Anyways, when is closed this book I felt happy. This books makes you think and feel. The goal of anymore at book.
