The Boy and His Ribbon

"What do you do when you meet your soul mate? No wait...that's too easy. What do you do when you meet your soul mate and have to spend a lifetime loving him in secret? I'll tell you what you do. You lie." REN Ren was eight when he learned that love doesn't exist-that the one person who was supposed to adore him only cared how much he was worth. His mother sold him and for two years, he lived in terror. But then...he ran. He thought he'd run on his own. Turned out, he took something of theirs by accident and it became the one thing he never wanted and the only thing he ever needed. DELLA I was young when I fell in love with him, when he switched from my world to my everything. My parents bought him for cheap labour, just like they had with many other kids, and he had the scars to prove it. At the start, he hated me, and I could understand why. For years he was my worst enemy, fiercest protector, and dearest friend. But by the end...he loved me. The only problem was, he loved me in an entirely different way to the way I loved him. And slowly, my secret drove us apart.

4.5 stars. Oh wow! This book tore me up but in the best way. It was so beautiful and beautifully written. Ren and Della are fantastic characters and their story enthralled me. The things that are stopping me giving this 5 stars are the spelling and terminology. It’s a whole mish mash of UK spelling with American terms and objects. There’s no setting given, but it’s confusing and did pull me out of the story. Also, at times it was a little slow and I had to plod through it. Still, this book was great and I can’t wait to read the others.

The boy and His Ribbon by Pepper Winters 5⭐️??? Idk - 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 - my soul hurts - this was so sweet - bit problematic, but the characters know this so as of now they’ve made the healthy choice. Tbh I could see them together in the next book which is a problem tho

“That’s none of your goddamn business.”

“Just like what Tom and I might do is none of yours.”

“Oh, see that’s where you’re wrong, Della.” I moved toward her until our chests almost touched. “Everything you do is my business. You’re mine to keep safe, and I have no doubt he doesn’t have any intention of doing that.”

My fingers begged to be allowed to run through her hair, to bring her close, to hold her because I missed her so goddamn much.
