It’s a shame I didn’t like this book because I thought the idea was interesting but it was a letdown. The plot and characters got annoying pretty fast

CUTE

this has been on my list for a while now and i thoroughly enjoyed it. i love a second chance romance and sports romance so put em together and i’m sat. i also loved that we get to hear parts of the romance novel that the mmc is reading and how it mirrors their relationship. if there isn’t already a sequel about mac and liz, i’m suing

I loved this. It reminded me of a hallmark movie lol

I like the idea, but the execution... Eh

This was fun, cute and had a lot of angst! The characters felt real and I loved to see their evolution through the book. I think it is almost a perfect book for my taste, 2nd chance romance and a really slow burn. If these are your tropes, go for it.

Why

I liked this at first really enjoyed it and then it went downhill.
Tje shut dialogue was so bad I cringed like ong no.
Our main male character I found his to be so bloody dull and I really didn't care about the story after the first half.
I expected this to be great or at keast good but it was just okay.

i need a movie about this ASAP!!! it was so funny😭 i hate romances so much💔💔

oh god i am never getting married to someone. this book stressed me out bc of their almost-failed marriage 😭
i guess marriage is really not for me lmaooo

i devoured this book, stayed sitted for hours because i couldn’t get enough. i love everyone in this book so much. i love their story so much. may i say that this is a genius plot, it’s not like the other girls. she’s different.

Loved this! ❤️ Review to come. ****** This was an amazing read. Right off the bat (ha!), we get to know that Gavin is a baseball player for the Nashville Legends. Thea (his wife) and he have cute twin daughters and a golden retriever. His career seems to be going well too. After discovering that his wife has been faking it in bed (at least after the birth of their daughters), he feels humiliated. Their already strained relationship feels like it is hanging by a thread. The idea of Nashville's top alpha men having a book club that reads romance novels to understand their own relationships better is what drew me to this book. The bromance between the teammates and friends always made me smile, whether that be discussions about how harmful toxic masculinity is or the beauty of romance novels. “You go ahead and cry, man,” Del said, tapping Gavin’s foot with the toe of his sneaker. “No shame in that.” Romance novels have been looked down upon for years. I have to admit, it was very satisfying to see cis-het male characters acknowledge that, and also use them as manuals for improving their own relationships. “Not word-for-word, no,” Del answered. “The point is to fit the lessons of it into your own marriage. Plus, that’s a Regency, so—” “What the hell is a Regency?” “That means it’s set in eighteenth- or early nineteenth-century England.” “Oh, great. That sounds relevant.” “It is, actually,” Malcolm said. “Modern romance novelists use the patriarchal society of old British aristocracy to explore the gender-based limitations placed on women today in both the professional and personal spheres. That shit is feminist as fuck.” “Because you know that problems in the bedroom stem from problems outside the bedroom. You can’t fix one without the other.” Thea and Gavin are both flawed but realistic characters, who love each other a lot but have their own healing to do, and something that's been swept aside for the duration of their relationship. We see Thea grapple with the reality that she might be projecting her parental abandonment from childhood, onto her marriage. We see Gavin deal with what it really means to communicate effectively and express himself in his marriage. We also see him deal with what he thinks being a man is about, versus what being a man and a loving partner is actually about. Gavin is always shown as a man with a hard exterior but a soft heart (also, he has a stutter. I don't think I've ever read a character who has a stutter) so I really appreciate the nuances (and evident results) of his character development. Thea is such a strong character; I love that she decided it was time to go back and earn her degree (that she had left halfway when she and Gavin got married), I love that she stood up for herself when she needed to without waiting for anyone else to do so for her, I love that she asked for help from her sister when she felt like she couldn't do it alone. Their daughters are so adorable. While Thea and Gavin rediscovered their love for each other, they continued loving their daughters with their whole heart and that was so heartwarming. They were empathetic about their daughters' reactions and confusion to the situation and they never let the twins feel like they were any less loved. Liv (Thea's sister) was an interesting character, and I'm definitely excited to read the next book Undercover Bromance with Mack and Liv as the protagonists. I loved this book and I am so glad I picked it up. I'd recommend picking this up for its realistic and honest portrayal of struggles in a marriage, love languages in a relationship, and love itself.

meh

There's no chapter that I didn't laugh so hard. This books is a masterpiece. Please, come check the tropes with me: - strong female character; - cinnamon roll male chacter; - second chances; - domestic scenes *chef's kiss* - grand love gesture; - soulmates/ end game; - he's a bookstan who read smut. Did I convinced you to read? No... so here's my fav quote: “You guys read romance novels?” “We call them manuals.” Did it work? No? Anywaaaaaay, I enjoyed every single second that I was reading this book. Gavin is so pure and lovely, and Thea is so though (in a good way) and independent, but at the same time they complete each other. FAV SCENE: the walmart date to buy art supplies. Gavin was supporting Thea dreams to hit back the art school and he was trying to prove that he loves her and would do anything to always have her in his life. argh, where is the man who is willing to cheer with me. Their song is Hesitate by Jonas Brothers because both has trauma, but they'd do anything to take each others pain.

If my future partner were to pursue me by taking notes from romance books, I would propose to them in an instant. Absolutely loved this book so much😩😩😩

Gosh this book was everything I hoped it would be, and more!! I am giving it 4.5 stars because I didn’t cry due to how beautiful it was 😂 still a must read due to the unique perspective it provides

Should be a reread soon

this was such a cutie second chance romance. men written by women are just a different breed that i wish were real. gavin is my book bf fr even with a stutter 🫶🏼

just ok

This was fun, engaging, easy to read, and cute. Looking forward to read the rest of the books in the series and get to know the rest of the Bromance crew.

This is such a fun concept and I really enjoyed reading it!!

4.25 stars This was so freaking cute. There were times I struggled with it though because I feel like they needed to be more open in their communication so many times and I get that it's a common trope in romance, but in this case it felt more frustrating than anything else. But Gavin was really sweet and I thought the whole idea of the book club was great. I also appreciated the author coming up with an actual other romance novel to sprinkle between the real life scenes.
Highlights

Love is enough. It's always enough.

The backlash against the PSL is a perfect example of how toxic masculinity permeates even the most mundane things in life. If masses of women like something our society automatically begins to nock them. Just like romance novels. If women like them, they must be a joke right?
