The Chicken Sisters
Reviews

This is a little different from what I usually read (thanks book club!) Overall, I really enjoyed it. Sisters are complicated in real life and fiction. The pacing was a little odd at times which is why we lose a star, but the story itself is really a timeless one of misunderstandings, family history and myths, and figuring out how to forgive the ones you love when they hurt you.

*3.5

I don’t know if I’ve ever hated two main characters more. These sisters were horrible to each other and everyone around them and they really didn’t deserve to be happy in the end but of course it ended nicely. The idea was good but god I wanted to scream at these sisters. There were some minor typos and grammatical errors that really really bothered me especially for a book that was chosen for a huge book clubs book pick🙄

Amanda and Mae are sisters their mom owns and works at Mimi’s. Mimi’s competitor is Frannie’s who is also a fried chicken restaurant. Amanda falls in love with Frannie’s son. There is a long standing family fued between these sisters I was looking forward to a light easy read it was a bit heavier than I expected. i give it a a 3.25. I enjoyed but I have definitely read other books this year that I enjoyed more.

3.5 stars. A cute, original story filled with charming characters and small town vibes, but I felt like it could’ve been a little shorter. It didn’t fully hold my attention near the end but I liked all the side characters’ relationships and drama.
