Was going to give it 2 but I realised I've given Half Bad 3 and this was somewhat more enjoyable so!

DNF at 51%. Can`t torture myself anymore. Maybe I would have liked this book, if I had read it when I was 14, but now it`s too stupid and naive for me to handle. Even Bella from Twilight wasn`t so annoying and helpless; the MC made me want to tear my hair off.

This book definitely brought me on an adventure. I was told there was a love triangle, but maybe it appears more in the next book because to me, there didn't seem to be any competition between Stellan and Jack. It was obvious who Avery wanted - she never struggled to choose or was swayed. She acknowledged Stellan's looks but that's about it. And now with the prophecy... I guess she is torn between them. But her heart isn't. Anyway.

Am I the only one who thought that prophecy was ridiculously simple? If you've read the Percy Jackson series (and the Heroes of Olympus series) by Rick Riordan, then you know what a good prophecy sounds like. First, and most importantly, nothing is every what it seems. What fulfills the prophecy is the last thing you expect. And I'm pretty sure prophecies rhyme. Maybe I'm wrong, but considering the prophecy was pretty much exactly what it said (survives fire, leader, achilles, etc), I wasn't blown away when Avery figured it out. Anyone who knew Stellan prior to the events of the novel probably could have figured it out. It just didn't surprise me in the end.

Jack was great. Love him. I love that he's willing to make sacrifices, and that Avery turned his world upside-down, and that it took time of the relationship to build up. Sort of. I like that Avery came into her own and took risks and put herself in danger when this wasn't the life she was used to. 

I don't really have much else to say. Stellan was an ass. Can't see how he could possibly hold a candle to Jack in the second book. The Dauphin family made me so so angry, but they got what was coming to them.

God oh God was this book a gigantic rollercoaster. 

First things first, the beggining. UGH. Hated it! Here we have the clicheic ordinary girl that doesn't know much about her past but turns out she is superspecial and can change the world. Oh let's not forget about the new hot boy in town that's into her. Seriously thought about dnf-ing this book just a couple of pages in. I'm so glad i didn't though, because things really started to move a few chapters is and towards the middle of the book, i was so hooked i couldn't put it down.

The plot was unexpectedly good and even if I'm not that into history, i really appreciated the "hints" at Napoleon and Alexander the Great. 

The plot twists. OH MY GOD THE FREAKING PLOT TWISTS. Some of them i saw coming miles away (still liked the way the story was going) but there was this one specific thing that we find out towards the end and i swear to God i would've thrown the book across the room if i wasn't reading on my phone. 

Last (but not least) the characters. Didn't like them. Just...no. As i've said before, they're really clicheic and generally nothing i've never seen before. Specifically, it felt like a Vanpire Diaries rip-off, fanfic whatever. Just bear with me a minute: a girl who knows little about her past/parents starts to fall for the new hot, foreign guy in town BUT there' also the blue-eyed, misterious, brooding guy that seems to have some kind of rivalry with hot boy over the girl. Was i talking about The Consiracy of Us or TVD? The world may never know......

Fingers crossed that there will be (some) a lot of character development in the next book. Oh and less love triangle would be great too. Please and thank you.

I had to re-read this so i can read the sequel. I loved it and am excited to read more.

Not my cup of tea....sounded fun. Mad chase through France & Istanbul was intriguing. But the whole power of 12 and ruling the world. blaaahhhh....wont be continuing this one.

Eh. I haven't read the second book yet, but i feel like it could have easily been made into a standalone. The romance felt rushed and fake, there wasn't an actual love triangle, even though there were two guys in the blurb, and I never really managed to understand the plot, and why everything was happening.

I was so sure this book would not disappoint me, I even bought the second book prior to reading the first installment. Yes, the second book was purchased at the Dollar Tree, however, it is still very rare for me to buy a sequel without reading the first book.

But I had such faith in this book...
UGHHH I WANTED TO LOVE IT *sighs dramatically* . The covers are gorgeous and the synopsis makes it sound like there's this deeply captivating love triangle and who doesn't love a good love triangle... But this book lacked any sort of romance consisting of more than two brain cells. The characters were bland and robbed of chemistry and depth. The majority of the book just felt like it was lagging--- it ranted on and on about history that supposedly created the Circle that was Avery's direct family, those with the violet eyes *cringe*. First of all, history isn't really my thing unless it tells a story instead of dumping meaningless dates and names that minimize the lives and emotions of the people that actually worked hard to create history and make the world what it is today (this is why I hate history class, it gives no emotion as to what actually happened). Anyways, what I'm attempting to articulate is that THIS BOOK TRIES TO SOUND HISTORICAL WHEN IT IS IN FACT ALL RANDOM BULLCRAP.

Just don't get your hopes up about this YA-39 Clues ripoff-failure at romance- attempt at a YA adventure-novel. Thankyou for your time.
