           This book was inspired by Marietta Lindstein as her time as Scientologist. 

Cult island is about a young woman Sofia who was looking to start a new phase in her life. She attends a lecture by Franz Oswald about his movement with Via Terra which was being pitched as a new age movement. When she joins his staff , phones, laptops, anything to do with communication with the outside world was confiscated and locked up. 

The Cult On Fog Island is slow to start with, which I enjoyed as it was building up parts as creepy and domineering. 

The way Franz dished out punishments to his staff was bordering as sadistic, especially when a newspaper reporter was invited to the island, and Franz bent over backwards to please the reporter but when the newspaper was delivered the article was less than favourable which made Franz even more paranoid than ever. 

This book I recommend as a slow paced read and may disappoint some who wanted a fast paced thriller.
