The hilarious sequel to the prize-winning, international bestseller The Day the Crayons Quit!

The Day The Crayons Came Home

The companion to the #1 blockbuster bestseller, The Day the Crayons Quit! I'm not sure what it is about this kid Duncan, but his crayons sure are a colorful bunch of character. Having soothed the hurt feelings of one group who threatened to quit, Duncan now faces a whole new group of crayons asking to be rescued! From Maroon Crayon, who was lost beneath the sofa cushions and then broken in two after Dad sat on him; to Burnt Sienna, who was eaten by the dog and then puked up on the living room rug (NOT pretty, Duncan); to poor Turquoise, whose head is now stuck to one of Duncan's socks after they both ended up in the dryer together; to Pea Green, who knows darn well that no kid likes peas and who ran away, changing his name to Esteban the Magnificent?each and every crayon has a woeful tale to tell and a plea to be brought home to the crayon box. Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers have combined to create a companion book every bit as funny and kid-friendly as the #1 bestselling The Day the Crayons Quit. Praise for The Day the Crayons Quit The #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon?over 65 weeks on the bestseller list! Not as great as the first book. Hard to tell if there was a message here at all. The crayons dialogue is funny and worth reading despite the lackluster end.

Another that gets lauded for story time use but I felt was too long. It's a fine story and the illustrations are great, but I could absolutely see losing my audience a few pages in.

It was so cute. I read it before putting it back on the shelf and I couldn’t help but smile throughout the whole thing.

Another great instagram live by Oliver Jeffers. This man is brilliant. Together with Drew Daywalt, he has created the most memorable story about crayons that I've ever read or ever shall read. Every page is something unexpected and children love this one. There's always a giggle. Even on a re-read. The illustrations are so well done and a mixed-media approach, not commonly seen.

For anyone playing along at home, I already own this one, but it is stuck at school in my classroom library during this time of social isolation.

Watch out, the crayons are back - and they're crosser than ever! One day, Duncan receives a set of postcards from his crayons, who've been lost, forgotten, broken - even melted in a clothes dryer and stuck to a pair of underpants! They may just be crayons but crayons have feelings too ...
