Short review: (written on June 6th 2021)

I've actually read The Deep-Sea Duke within the same day. If The Starlight Watchmaker propelled me deep into the space, I'm plunged into an extraterrestrial underwater world in The Deep-Sea Duke. Personally I think the worldbuilding in this novella is slightly better as most of the story took place in a single location. I also found the characters better fleshed out. In a backdrop that's facing climate change (which resonates with what's happening with our planet these days), this is a cute found family story.

On the flipside, because this is a very short book I wasn't that invested in the queer romance. So I found that aspect of the novella a tad forgettable. Apart from that, this is nevertheless a pretty fun novella about finding where you belong.

Did I just cry because these boys are so beautiful? Yes, yes I did. This was just so wholesome. Dorian and Hugo have the most wonderful relationship and I love them with everything in me. Ada is the bestest friend to them both and the whole story was just beautiful. This book was the hug I needed.
