The first 200 pages were a bit boring and difficult to get into the sorry. But later on it was really gripping, and the ending is shocking

This book was fine. I did find it mildly unbelievable how much tail the 14/15 year old son pulled.

I love a good locked-room mystery and lucky for me this was even more. Part mystery, part psychological thriller the reader is taken for a ride as we try to find out what exactly happened to Matthew. Was it Rachel, who has already confessed and holds the murder weapon? Or was it someone else? Told from multiple POVs and multiple points in time, this book kept me guessing over and over again. I absolutely loved the start, we know something is wrong, we are immediately lead not to like Charlie, but why? Was Charlie the murderer? Could it be their son Titus- surely not? Make sure you have some free time when you pick this up because you are NOT going to want to put it down until the deadly end. 

5/5 stars!

I loved the plot twists and the suspense. The book is told through 2 povs and multiple different points in time, although that is not for everyone I think it really added to the satisfaction when the truth was finally revealed. TW it does contain multiple references to social media, especially instagram 😔

Meh? There isn’t much mystery to this to be honest. It’s just kind of an account of this upper class family falling apart without any real excitement. Would have preferred just following Titus’ ‘relationships’ at least there were surprises in that storyline.

First off, it wasn't wht i imagined the book would be- I thought there would be an elaborate dinner and stuff like that. The dinner wasn't even significant. Secondly, this was a...I don't know how to put it. A lot? But at the same time nothing. It was going good till like half of it, I was hooked and couldn't put it down. Then it went in a direction I didn't quite like nor anticipated. But the epilogue kind of made for it. Also, I liked how they didn't try to patronize murder but instead concluded how even if u try yr best to hide it, it's going to destroy your life and everyone involved in the slightest bit. There were bits I just...it seemed unbelievable for the most part. I thought it would be a 4 star, but the ending didn't really do it for me.

Unputdownable. I bought this book because I’d seen it being recommended left, right, and centre, gosh, am I glad I did! Walter’s writing style is incredible and I was hooked from start to finish, I think it took me around 6 hours to read! Definitely going to be indulging in whatever work comes next.

The Dinner Guest by B P Walter is a thriller, where we know from the beginning who dies, and whilst we're told who has admitted to the killing, we're also told there's doubt about the killer.

Matthew and Charlie are married, bringing up Titus, who is the son of Matthew's late sister.  And Rachel is the woman who changes everything.  She shows up in a bookshop, and whilst Charlie feels uncomfortable, Matthew befriends her.

I really enjoyed the layers of story that are revealed as we go along, with truths uncovered about every character.
