I was walking through the library two hours ago and saw this cover jump out at me. I thought to myself, "I saw this on a TBR video one time. This sounds interesting: and I sat down and dove in immediately. 

The format and writing style is jarring at first and takes a couple double-numbered pages to get used to. Our main character speaks in a rather quizzical way that can leave you with a few more questions than answers, but as the story unfolds you start to understand her thought process and her reasonings, but you also see the main character unravel. 

I loved the relationships between the characters- albeit they are strange but realistic. I can't possibly tell you how often I went from smiling to laughing, to crying in that order. Of course towards the end, there wasn't much smiling or laughing. This was a tough story, from abuse to negligence, rape, and prostitution. There were a lot of themes to this story leading to mental health. 

I can say that the only reason this book isn't five stars is that it did not blow me away. The beginning can be considered powerful in the way that it takes your attention and doesn't let go for a hundred pages, and that it's hard to let it go. It was well made and there were many things to like about this book and its characters.

I can say that this book can be forgotten if you let it go over your head and if you stop thinking about it. It was good, it was new and I liked everything about it. There is nothing I would change, but I can't shake the feeling that something is missing. It didn't change my life and it's unfortunate that it didn't leave me with the feeling of euphoria. However, it does deserve four stars.

I definitely recommend this- if you are in the right mood for a heavy read, it is a good read.
