Charlie is getting used to her new life as Queen of Ludania, but not everything is picture perfect. Sabara still lurks in her head, and even though Charlie does what she can for her country a rebelion is rising. Charlie has some hard decisions to make in her nearest future. Some, which will change how the people she loves, look at her. Kimberly Derting could easily become one of my favorite authors of YA books. I have read The body finder - serie and the two first books of The pledge trilogy . And I am absolutely in LOVE! Derting is able to create a suspense that only will be realized in the very end of the book. Which leads to endless reading till you reach the ending and you get just the slightest bit of that final touch. And then she brutally let you hang and dingle on a cliff hanger. I could kiss Derting just for that! Though I sometime think Charlie lack a bit in the characterization, she manages to keep me captured while she of all her heart tries to keep herself, and her country, out of trouble. Needles to say, it, doesn't work. Actually, more often than not, Charlie is the one digging her own grave. At times, specially after it is discovered why Sabara and Niko feel so strong for each other, it feels like quite a déjà vu if you have read The Host by Stephenie Meyer. One girl-body, two girls fighting over this body with each their love interest. The only reason why this one girl, two "essences", two love interest work without being annoying in the light of The Host is because in The Essence it's the body's real essence who is in control. What this book need is some more of Zafir. I think he became my man-crush-monday. I wanna know everything about him.
