I’ve always been very interested in Russian history, and the events leading up to the Russian Revolution. As I’m also a sucker for good historical fiction, I knew I just had to read this book when I accidentally discovered it. In The Fabergé Secret, Charles Belfoure spins a beautiful story, going from the opulent life of Russian aristocracy to the peasants living in grim poverty, truly bringing this turbulent period to life. 

He’s created an amazing cast of characters, though I especially love Dimitri, a protagonist with a true sense of morality. “Dimitri was one of the rare members of the noble families in Russia who actually knew how to do something.” This made me laugh while reading it, though it is simultaneously sad that he would be the exception amongst the aristocracy. All in all, this book is well deserving of the five stars I’m rating it, and will be a definite recommendation to my friends and family!
