Only read first 250 pages, characters don't really develop and all act stupid. Super boring book where the barely existent plot barely moves along at a snails pace.

This is a well-written series, and has a lot of really interesting characters. Unlike much fantasy, there's not much reliance on magic, and there's a lot more character development than action. This makes it a refreshing series in a genre I have a somewhat love/hate relationship with.

Two books down, and you begin to sense something spectacular in the waiting. Hobb is extremely patient in building up the story, and although the climax is nothing short of stunning, when your hands begin to turn the pages of their own will, you're still left with too many loose ends to be thrilled. Over to the final book of the trilogy now.

OMG!!! Totally blown away. You know it's weird cos you know Fitz survives cos he's telling the story but you're still left biting your nails and gasping when he gets into trouble. 
So story line was spot on. I found myself wanting to wring Molly's neck because ugh!! And Kettricken, why couldn't she be stronger??? Anyway this book solid 5 stars I haven't loved characters like this in a while and even hated characters like this in a while . Cannot wait for the conclusion

Just finished this one for the second time. I remember enjoying them nearly 20 years ago and it was round about the time my concept of God was evolving. The wit and the skill tied in with that nicely. 

Here is my favourite part...

_The exercise for centering oneself is a simple one. Stop thinking of what you intend to do. Stop thinking of what you have just done. Then, stop thinking that you have stopped thinking of those things. Then you will find the Now, the time that stretches eternal, and is really the only time there is. Then, in that place, you will finally have time to be yourself._

When I finally started powering through this book, I wanted to put it down so many times. When I would go to bed at night I wanted to not read it, but found myself picking it up to read just a few pages and ending up reading several chapters. This is not because it isn't an excellent book. It IS and excellent book. Robin Hobb is an excellent writer. BUT, (view spoiler)[it is The Empire Strikes Back of the Farseer trilogy in all ways. She pretty much tortures her beloved characters in all ways and it is like the train wreck you can't look away from! You know your favorite characters are making bad decisions and you know it is going to end badly for everybody. Hobb gives you glimpses of happiness for them and then wrenches it away. Many a time I felt as if she had thrust her hand through my chest and ripped my damn heart out! But, then again, that is why she is such an excellent writer.  (hide spoiler)]

I highly recommend these books. Robin Hobb is a fine weaver of and epic tale. And no matter how much I wanted to look away at times I just couldn't do it. It was too good.
