Enticed by the lovely book cover and interesting premise (What would happen if language were toxic?), I paid more than I normally would have for this hardcover book.

Unfortunately, judging this book by its cover was a wrong choice. The story did not live up to the high expectations I had for it. I had to drag myself through the book, just so I wouldn't be wasting my money.

Imagine if language were toxic... What impact would that have on our lives and the way we communicate? As humans are social beings, would the toxicity of language or the inability to communicate with others kill us first? There are so many exciting things to be explored and yet, the author talks (too much, imo) about the protagonist's Jewish identity and the Jew hole he goes to regularly. This is all my personal, biased opinion and I was not taken in by the story the author spun, at all. Well, too bad for me.
