I had a lot of issues with how much Jack pursued Annie early on after she tries to distance herself after finding out he was married. I'm not against cheating in fiction depending on how it's done. Plain and simple Jack should've left his toxic and abusive marriage, regardless of what his wife could do to him or herself. That being said I did enjoy this book and maybe I shouldn't because there is a lot wrong with how situations were handled but I still found it captivating. I read it in one sitting during a power outage and it did make me emotionally invested. Jack and Annie were by no means perfect characters but that's what this story is complicated and messy but you still are drawn to it.

I have Always and always will love anything everything from Jodi. It was amazing from the start till the end of it. 

It’s amazing how well the writing, the characters from this book. Jack and Annie relationship come off so complicated but the drama is not so heavy and I love it. It’s easy to understand. 

It really wrecked my emotions and drained everything I have in me when they’re both struggling to be together. I know it’s wrong to wish for Annie’s happiness with Jack but it’s not even her fault that the marriage didn’t work between Jack and his wife. She just came at the wrong time but the feeling is something else. 

Not every marriage end with a happily ever after. Sometimes it takes a few person to come and go from our life to teach us the lesson. 

Highly Recommended! :)

I wish I could give this book a million stars. Jodi Ellen Malpas will forever be on my list of all time favorite authors. I will pick up anything she writes!

This book follows Annie who is an architect. She's in love with her job and doesn't really have much room for anything else in her life. That includes men. Well, until she meets Jack at a bar one night. They hit it off and end up in a hotel room by the end of the night.

Little does Annie know, Jack is forbidden. She later learns that he's a married man. Meeting his wife was a great slap to the face because she just couldn't shake Jack and she wanted him. 

This story is about how two people fall in love when they know they shouldn't. I know it's a book that's going to receive at lot of hate because of the infidelity. I am not saying what they're doing is okay, because it's never okay to cheat on your spouse. But if I was married to Stephanie, I would have probably done the same thing.

I don't want to give anything else away because this book is intense! I was literally on the edge of my seat with this one! 

I need more Jack and Annie in my life. Please tell me there will be more!!!!!!!!

I went into The Forbidden not knowing anything besides what the blurb said. I had my suspicions, but I basically went into this book blind, which is what I feel most readers should do. You’re meant to feel as shocked and blindsided as the heroine is when the “forbidden” aspect of the romance comes into play. But I will say that this particular forbidden romance theme is not one for everyone – some readers adamantly try to avoid this topic, so if you really want to know, I’m sure there are reviews out there that say what it is. But I won’t be spoiling anything here! ;)

Twenty-nine year old architect Annie Ryan is at the height of her career, having just landed a client with an incredible project. Her whole life has been leading up to owning her own architecture firm, and she’s finally succeeded. Men have no room in her life, but what can a one-night-stand hurt with the most gorgeous man she’s ever scene, with whom she shares a deep, intense chemistry? Annie leaves Jack the morning after their passionate night feeling bittersweet that she’ll never experience that kind of passion again. But as luck would have it, the contractor for the new project she’s working on is none other than Jack Joseph… and despite their one night together, she can never have him.

Annie and Jack share an explosive connection that neither should act on but cannot deny. I was bouncing back and forth between rooting for them and hoping they would go their separate ways. It’s a tumultuous relationship with as many highs as there are lows, but through it all, there is never a doubt about the love these two characters have for each other.

Jodi Ellen Malpas writes a certain kind of alpha male that normally I can’t stand, but Jack surprisingly didn’t get on my nerves as much as her previous heroes. He has his moments, but overall I didn’t quite hate him like I expected to. Annie is a total sweetheart and I felt for her and her pain over Jack. I did get annoyed at how easily she succumbed to Jack, but all of JEM’s heroines do, so why am I still surprised? LOL. The sex between them is off-the-charts hot, so I was able to be a little more forgiving of the characters because of it.

If you love JEM, then you’re more than likely going to enjoy The Forbidden. It’s a bit more emotional and angsty than her other reads, but I found that I liked it. It’s definitely controversial and not a book for everyone, but if you’re curious and have an open mind, I’d say go for it!
