bc i don’t want to spend time reading something i don’t want to.

this book started out okay. but honestly it just felt like i was reading about platonic bffs having sex. they had no romantic chemistry what so ever. i’m so sad bc i was sooo excited for their book :(( also it’s boring and i couldn’t connect with any of their characters. this is friends to lovers done badly.

I was quite excited for this book at first and it had a good plot with good characters. Once I was pretty far into the book and story I lost interest and stopped reading it for a while. I finally finished it but I kinda just skimmed. It was anti climactic for me, personally. It was just lacking something that I can’t quite pinpoint what it was.

Hello omg second fave book in the series for me. I love childhood friends to lovers but when it’s childhood BEST friends to lovers with the tension you could cut with a knife, hi I’m here for it!
LJ and Marisa’s story was beautiful again with the dual POVs yes loved it.
The way Maya wrote these group of friends is immaculate definitely my second fave friend group in romance and my third friend group overall. Absolutely loved it and I adored that all the characters were present in the last book. The nerf battle yes my fave thing!
The way I sobbed from how in love they are with each other and how they spoke about each other, howled laughing and ugly sobbed I lost track. 100% recommend to off campus fans and childhood best friends to lovers readers as well.

Well, it was okay but I got bored from the beginning but it got pretty interesting when the drama started tho the groveling didn't excite me that much. Overall, I'll surely miss Fulton U and the girls and I badly want to read Keyton's book.

I have been waiting for Marisa and LJ's book since they were first introduced in Fearless King and let me say I was not disappointed. Best friends to lovers romance books tend to be either really amazing or a complete let down for me and this falls into the former and has leapt into one of my favourites best friends to lovers' books and definitely my favourite of the series.

I was pleasantly surprised by the execution of the plot in this book. Both Marisa and LJ's individual stories were balanced and strong. I loved reading about Marisa's relationship with her parents (it's still fuck them both from me idc) and how it all connects to how she currently navigates the world paralleled with LJ's relationship with his own parents. Their shared history together and how they are both willing to sacrifice for each other while pining for each whilst thinking it's unrequited elevates the romance for me.

           Okay so, I liked this book. I don’t really know what I was expecting going in but I do know that my expectations were probably a ~little~ high after the masterpiece that was The Third Best Thing and so reading a book that wasn’t that, let me down a little.

I loved LJ as a person, I felt like he was pretty static compared to some of Maya’s other characters but he was a total sweetheart from beginning to end, I kinda feel like she dropped the ball on depicting his passion for football and focused way more on just his need for the paycheck which was a little frustrating. 

Marisa. Oh Marisa. I wanted to love her, I really did. And I actually did, until this book. The Marisa breadcrumbs from previous books were some of my favorite parts, she was quirky and funny. And then in this book, she was a completely different person. Selfish, negative, (like freaking prepping for doomsday negative), immature, and overall just kind of a drag to read 🥴 it felt like she was never going to move on from the past and that blowup at her dads in front of Nora🤢 lord have mercy, what even was that?! 

The romance was great, I felt like they had real chemistry but what I kept coming back to over and over was their friendship. It doesn’t add up to me why they’re really even friends in the first place. They were almost complete opposites that really only complimented each other in the bedroom, (or the car, bathroom, yeah you get the idea😂) 

I don’t know. It wasn’t a great book but it wasn’t a bad one either. 

3.5/5 stars bc I loved LJ lmao

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book in just one go. From the moment I read TFTC’s synopsis, I knew there was just no reading break happening.

It’s not the typical best friends to lovers trope with all the overused best friends to lovers scenarios that we have read in the history of all best friends to lovers stories.

Maya Hughes has done an excellent job at surprising me with the twists and turns happening in her stories. LJ and Marisa’s romance was no exception. And I have enjoyed every moment of it, basking in the emotions it has evoked from me.

This is by far the best best friends to lovers story I have read 🥰

And the nerf battles are back! We've met LJ and Marisa is the previous books and here we see how things turn out. A novel with steam, romance, cuteness, insecurities and heartache.

LJ and Marisa are amazing together and so is their story. The plotline is really sensible along with the turning point. The romance is sickeningly cute, the pain is real, there are embarassing and funny moments and everything falls just in the right place. While their problem was their insecurities and communication gap, it is explained to us with reasons why and the thinking behind the actions taken.

This story is not only about their changing relationship but also about Marisa's relationship with her parents. The emails were emotional and geniune and I totally think that her dad wants to build a connection. Loved it!

If you've read the previous 3 parts of this series then you'll connect the moments which are of the other books but shown here so that it's not all about LJ and Marisa. 

A good read falling in the college sports romance category and the bestfriends-to-lovers trope.
