The Gatekeeper's Sons Gatekeeper's Saga, Book One

Eva Pohler2012
Fifteen-year-old Therese watches her parents die. While in a coma, she meets the twin sons of Hades-Hypnos, the god of sleep, and Thanatos, the god of death. She thinks she's manipulating a dream, not kissing the god of death and totally rocking his world. Than makes a deal with Hades and goes as a mortal to the Upperworld to try and win Therese's heart, but not all the gods are happy. Some give her gifts. Others try to kill her. The deal requires Therese to avenge the death of her parents. With the help of Than's fierce and exotic sisters, the Furies, she finds herself in an arena face to face with the murderer, and only one will survive.

Intriguing Although this doesn’t follow the exact timeline of the more traditional Greek mythologies, this is definitely a good read! I had the HARDEST time putting the book down and was even reading instead of working at times. By far one of my favorite younger targeted books that I’ve read in a long time. Easy read, detailed, and exciting to the very last page! Well done!!!

The story is about the unpopular gods that are not mentioned a lot in the known mythology books. They are from the Underworld - Thanatos and Hypnos. They are the sons of Hades and Persephone. Hynos is the god of sleep and Thanatos is the god of death. So the Underworld is still the Underworld, right? Same routine of ferrying the dead and letting people to have dreams. Until the girl comes then everything changed. Next thing happening is Thanatos having a bargain with Hades to search for the girl who suddenly appeared in their lives. But the girl is a mortal and she was just searching for her dead parents when she stumbled with Thanatos and Hypnos. Then she kissed Thanatos, and that changed everything. With the help of the Furies - Thanatos' sisters, they'll find this girl and the suspect to her parent's death. Misadventures happened and of course, romantic getaways. All is going well, she's to become a goddess and live happily ever after with Thanatos in front of all the gods. Yes, the gods who are popular to us - from Zeus to Thanatos. But then, she chose the wrong choice and everything turned to shambles. It should've been her, but she chose not to. The plot was okay and not very flat. The setting is the mortal world and sometimes the gods' places. I love the romance in this story, the author surely knows how to write it well. I enjoyed it. I was just annoyed with the main character being so stubborn with her choices. I hope everything in their lives get better in the second book.

-10/5 DNF I am deleting this book from my kindle and my mind. Yeah, This book is just terrible. If you imagine these characters are eight years old, this all makes clearer sense. I almost stopped when the Main character (who is 15) makes her chest grow in not dream and waves it around in one of the romantic partners who apparently looks 18. Which is already wrong. I imagined them as 8 year old's, because I was never 15 and waving boobs in guys faces. I can imagine being flat chested is something a teen hates, but its still creepy. Then non-spoiler, people die (not wanting to spoil who incase you decide to die a little and read it) and she cares more about hot boys then people she cares about. Then is totally cool with them being dead to hang out with a hot god boy in her dreams. Like what. Maybe a ten year old would like this, but even a kid understands dead people you love matter more than boys.
