Difficult to categorize this book, but it made me a fan of Guy Davenport. In these essays, he wrote about Denmark, about Ezra Pound, about anything that interested him. He had such deep knowledge on so many subjects, he could point the reader down a dozen paths that might be interesting. His translation of ancient Greek writers (7 Greeks) is outstanding also.
