           I was debating whether to give this book 2 or 3 stars. I first went on with 3, but then settled with 2.
The beginning of the novel was pretty interesting, especially reading about Deanna's life as a camgirl, how she dealt with every individual client and was concerned about this particular one's behavior.
The murderous urge didn't work for me. Personally, I would have found it a whole lot more interesting if this was solemnly about a camgirl suspecting one of her clients to be a pedophile. The debate Deanna had whether she was protecting the alleged child by going along with this man's fantasies and keeping it at bay was really interesting. 
And then going off to find and save this child? Yes, girl! But it would have been SO much better without the killing desire. I understand this is a series and that it focuses on Deanna's urges (I think? Didn't look up the other books), but I feel like it would have worked so much as a stand alone.
This is pretty much why I didn't give this book 3 stars. I felt like it had the potential to be a lot more than it ended up being. I also had trouble with the writing, so there's that.

I've had this on my tbr for so long that now that I have read it I wonder what took so long. This psychological thriller is one that leaves you cheering for Deanna.

Kinda corny… too many coincidences that added up. <spoiler> Her finding Annie and not really having much of a conflict in saving her (besides a punch in the face) seemed kind of anticlimactic to me. </spoiler> Leaving the book reading experience of The Girl in 6E feeling a little underwhelmed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This book was not exactly what I was expecting. It is definitely a dark , gritty read and will not be for everyone. I enjoyed this book; but it wasn't the greatest. I had some issues with it. I felt like some of the graphic, detailed parts were included possibly for a shock factor or to add additional grit to the story. Some of these parts I didn't see how they were necessary to the story. Also, I found it to be a bit predictable in some aspects.

I felt horrible for Deanna when the reader learns about her tragic past. I found her coping mechanism interesting; but, there were a few flaws with her coping system, in my opinion. 

The main event of the book, that happened in the latter half of the story, was disturbing and made my stomach ache. It was an uncomfortable topic that happens in real life and I don't even have the words to describe how revolting it is. However, when the main event did occur, I felt like it was over way too quickly. It was a build up to the climax of the story; but, the confrontation was not much of a struggle and seemed to be a little unbelievable and too convenient.

I also think that the ending wrapped up very neatly for such a dark, gritty, disturbing plot. So, I am unsure of where the next two installments of this book are headed. I also found the romance to be a bit unrealistic and parts were hard for me to believe. 

The first half of the book I kind of made myself get through; however, the last half I inhaled. Overall, it was an intriguing premise and an enjoyable read, it just wasn't my favorite. I plan on continuing with the series.

I Did not like this book and i had so much problem with it! 

It was more focus on erotica than suspense and thriller, i mean at Least 200 pages was only about her Job and her clients. The suspense was to short and to Quick. It was all over in like 70 pages. 

And i found her strategi to keep herself looked inside kind of ridiculous! I mean, if u have a really strong Will to kill someone, u Will kill someone and i dont think a Door Will hold u down. And i also thought she was a selfish person.. Not sure why though, but i kept thinking that during the whole book!

I picked this book up on a whim from the clearance bin at Barnes and Noble after only reading the brief synopsis that is shown above. I had no idea that this novel was erotica. I personally am not a fan of erotica. It is simply something that I have never found myself wanting to read, however, the synopsis of this book sounded so interesting that I figured I would give it a try.

I found the idea of the story to be very unique, and really enjoyed the plot as a whole. The author managed to merge erotica, thrillers, and mysteries into one novel, and for that, I must applaud her. I really enjoyed the characters that A.R. Torre creates in this novel, they are complex and flawed, and yet in many ways still likable. This was particularly the case for the main character Deanna she is an antihero in every sense of the word, and yet for all her flaws I ended up really liking her character.

The biggest complaint that I have is the erotica portion. I am in no way against reading erotica or putting sex scenes in a novel, but this book in particular just felt like too much. There were so many times that I felt the erotic scenes overshadowed the plot. Many of the erotic scenes felt pointless to me as they didn't really advance the plot in any way. Because of this, I often skimmed or skipped over the erotic scenes in order to get on with the plot.

This book is not without merit however, I think that for the right reader this book would be great. People who enjoy erotica or suspense novels and are looking for something new and unique may love this book.

Where do I even start with this book? 

I've always said I rate creepy books on a scale of 1 to 'Here be Dragons' by Laurell K Hamilton (it is as of yet, the creepiest, darkest thing I've ever read), and this book is definitely up there. There's something about a character who knows they have bloodlust, something sinister and yet, satisfying in a way.

Satisfying you say? Ok. Maybe it's just me and my writer brain, but I do sometimes wonder about the feel of copious amounts of blood. Like, is it REALLY warm? Because technically it's the same temperature as your body so would you really feel it? And does it actually smell coppery in large quantities? I have questions. Weird, disturbing questions. 

Anywho, I love the darkness of this book. That Deanna knows she has an issue and while she knows it's wrong, she also just accepts that's who she is and she figures out how to deal with it. She doesn't get mad about the life she has, she knows it's all she can accept at the time.

Surprisingly (or not surprisingly?) there's a romance in this book. At first I didn't think the book needed it, but then I realized how wrong I was. Seeing Deanna react with her love interest gave you a larger insight into her brain and how she rationalized what she was doing and how much inner turmoil she really has.

The camgirl aspect of it was definitely an interesting addition. I don't typically read things that are just gratuitous sex scenes. What you get here makes sense for the story. They add to it, rather than take from out. Outside of the obvious there would be no plot without it, I also think it added to our understanding of Deanna.

I liked the plot, I felt like it moved quickly but not TOO quickly. The book was very well written and I enjoyed it. Really my negatives were just that some of the camgirl stuff was just outside of my comfort zone which is really more personal preference than anything else.

I'm not sure if I'll continue with this series or not, I've heard it was intended as a standalone and the other two books were tacked on later and you can tell. So I guess I'll see how I feel about it once I've cleared off my TBR a bit.

this book was probably a 4 or 4.5 star read, but i couldn’t get into it after being blindsided by the repulsive plot. if i knew where the story was going before hand, and that nothing bad would *actually* happen, i definitely would’ve loved this.

Thrillers just aren't my cup of tea. I don't know why I continue to push myslef into reading them when I obviously don't enjoy them.

The main problem I had with this was that I just couldn't buy everything that was going on, with the romance being number one. 

The other thing I didn't quite believe was the main character's 'obsession' with murder. I was just meh throughout the whole thing. Deanna was actually a pathetic excuse for a killer in the best case. Evne she herself said she was weak and overrated her abilities. 

That's really it.

This book was...okay. I thought the writing was excellent and the characters were interesting and well-developed, though there were some gaps about characters' backgrounds that I feel should have been filled in.

The big reason why this book isn't a major win for me is the pacing. Dear God, did this book drag! The premise is that the main character has homicidal urges and has locked herself in her apartment for several years to avoid killing anyone. She makes her money by camming, and she suspects one of her clients is up to no good so she leaves her apartment to stop an evil greater than herself. More than half of the book happened before she left her apartment! There was a lot of set up, establishing her background, as well as a little bit of sexy times with the local hot mailman (in case you're unaware, the author's claim to fame is self-published erotica, so steamy scenes are definitely in her wheelhouse). But for a thriller, the pacing was just wrong. The suspense didn't build at all, because by the time anything was even happening, we were two-thirds of the way through the book! Everything got resolved much too quickly and easily for my tastes. I just kind of felt bored during the "climax" of this book. I felt cheated since the concept was so interesting. I do want to continue with the series at some point, but I don't feel the immediate need to run out and get the next book.

TW for blood and gore, pedophilia, and many sexual scenes.

Described as 50 Shades of Grey meets Dexter, this book follows the life of Jessica, a cam girl who hasn’t left her apartment in 3 years. Away from the cameras, she’s Deanna, a girl with a tragic and dark past with demons she has to keep under control.

The idea that this is like 50 Shades meets Dexter is actually detrimental to the book I think. It’s way better than that. The comparison is clear and obvious but there is so much more going on in this story.

I watched the movie Cam last year and loved it, found the whole idea of cam girls super interesting and love learning more about it. I don’t know much about the life of a cam girl at all and I felt like this was a good insight and reminded me a little of the film Cam. 

Totally recommend this book, a great thriller and happy I’ve had a 5 star read this year. Not sure I will continue on in the series, this book was good and I don’t want to ruin it! But glad the option is there to keep going if I wish!

I enjoyed this book. If you don’t like reading sexy stuff, then this isn’t going to be your cup of tea. 

But, what I did enjoy was the strong female lead. She locks herself in her apartment to protect others from her killing urges. She does cyberporn and somehow gets involved in a kidnapping. Definitely holds your attention. Would recommend.

I really really loved the book, a lot more than I thought I would. The only reason it’s not a five is because of the ‘GO’ section of the book. It felt a little too /perfect/ and that the foreshadowing told us it may not be. Otherwise I really loved the story and I cant wait to pick up and read the rest of the series.

I was not expecting this book to be to the way it was, intense would be my word to describe it!

I love the character of Deanna. She is smart, witty and a tad on the dark side. She has got a Dexter type of vibe going on. In most stories, I really have the urge to smack a female lead for being soft and weak...NOT, in this case, she is anything but!

I couldn't put this book down, I needed to know what was going to happen to Deanna and Jeremy. I found Deanna's (aka Jessica) cam client sessions to be interesting and humorous.

I liked the way the ending fell together and honestly the last chapter surprised me. In the best way possible. I wasn’t sure how it was going to end through most of the book, it left me smiling and hopeful. Which for a book about some pretty dark and twisted topics, I’d say that’s a win!
