To begin, like many other people have previously said - go into this book blind! 

To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about this book. From the beginning up until the last 50 pages or so, it was a pretty "straightforward thriller" with a slow moving plot....and then WHAATT! The last few chapters were freaky, intense and unexpected!

The thing I will definitely remember most about this book is the ending; whether I loved or hated it - I'm still not completely sure. 

Iris and Summer - identical sisters on the outside but very different on the inside, a sailing trip + a family inheritance that goes too far. Like I said, go into this book blind. 

It's not a 5 star book for me because the book did dive deep into the technicalities & backstories of sailing that I honestly got a little much at times for me. Also because the plot was slow moving but overall very impressed! My first Rose Carlyle read but definitely not my last.

Wow. Just, wow. It took me a while to get into the story because I didn’t really like Iris, but once it got going it was very good. I figured out what happened about halfway through the book, but I was wholly unprepared for the very end. Great debut book. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.

Eh. I don’t know why I read this. It must have been another case early inflated 4-5 star ratings. It is more of a family drama than a mystery.

The first main section provided such yachting detail, Tom Clancy would have been proud of the minutiae; the turn after that point was interesting, but the inheritance shenanigans were unbelievable; the twist was foreseeable, and the final page or so was also unbelievable; and each of the characters were unpleasant.

It’s far from the worst I’ve read, but you aren’t missing anything if you don’t read it.

What did I just read! What! Is this book realistic? Absolutely not. Is this book a crazy page turner? Omg yes! I was hesitant at first because they were beautiful twins that will inherit millions when they have their first child, resulting in a weird family rat race. But, Iris was so bonkers that I wanted to see her crash and burn, but I also didn't at the same time. The last sentence of the book shook me to my core! I had to sit and think about what the hell just happened. So good!

I had to skip a few chapters just to make myself finish it. I normally love thrillers, but I just found this book boring. Iris was too complain-y, Summer too perfect, I saw the twist at the end from a mile away. Other people love this book, and I can see why they would, but this one just wasn’t for me.

SO. MUCH. SAILING. Sooooooooooooo much sailing lingo. It was too much. I felt I was a hundred pages into the book and not much had happened other than I heard so many in depth details about navigating the sea by yacht. I didn't care to know that many details, ESPECIALLY since it didn't end up being relevant to the ending like I thought it might. Nope. It easily could have been condensed. Also, a lot of sex called "sexyrape". This did play into the book, but a lot of sailing and sex in this book.

I guess this is a thriller, but most of the book didn't have you on the edge of your seat as most. Did I keep wondering what was going on and coming up with all sorts of possible answers? Yes. Was I entertained? Yes (sometimes bored with all the sailing talk, but I already mentioned that). Despite that, it wasn't as much of a page turner where I can't wait to see what's going on because most of the story is just so this is what happened today and this is what I'm doing now and so forth. I mostly kept wondering, "Okay...so what's gong to happen to you later? There clearly is a twist somewhere because otherwise this wouldn't be a book...so what is it? 

Not a bad read for sure since it's entertaining, but I've read better.

That ending? I can't say I saw it coming, but I also can't say I didn't see it coming. There was no way to tie this book up so the ending pretty much was one of two scenarios that had to happen to wrap it up. Both weren't "pretty" or "neat". Either Iris goes to jail or going to live a life of solitude. Even if it's proven she didn't kill Summer, she did some very questionable things that are going to ostracize you. Or, we get the ending we got. Not really any other options and as the pages went by it was going to have to be one of these two because she just kept digging herself in deeper and telling the truth was going to have ramifications for sure.
